I have a model SX-315 receiver and on the display is reading"PHONE.IN".
In the middleof a movie it changed to this and we can not hear sound. This is connected to our tv, DVD, stereo. Although if I plug in the headphones we can hear throught the headphones.

Where is the AV/Parameter button????? I searched everywhere on this thing.

I tried re-setting the receiver but it didn't work. Then I got a headphone jack, 1/4 inch, I rammed it in and out of the jack socket, very fasr, about 50 times. The "phones-in" message then disappeared and I then got sound through the loud-speakers.

I had this exact same problem. What I did was take the cover off. From the inside of the phone jack, there was a brown plastic cable tip and a white plastic cable tip and I unplugged both of those. I turned the power on after unhooking them then pressed a few buttons on the front to make sure it no longer said "PHONES.IN". Then, powered off, I plugged them back in, powered on, and it works just like it did before. Hope this helps!

Solution #5 worked like a charm! I plugged an earphone (male) jack (one that fit the earphones (female) jack in the receiver) and the sound switched it back to normal. Thank you!

Hell I took a pair of ear phones which didn't fit toucjed the metal plug in to the phone jack and it clicked off.

Get a cheap phono plug from Source/Radio Shack, plug it in and then unplug it... bingo, it works again.

Tried re-setting the receiver -- didn't work. The got a 1/4 jack and rammed in in and out of the earphone socket, very fast, maybe 50 times. It worked. No more "phone in" message, and the sound came out of the loudspeakers.

I don't have sound even if I turn knob at top level. The sound coming from my speaker is not loud what button should I touch to get more volume converter sx-316

Turn it down to 1/4 while troubleshooting or you may destroy your speakers after you find that button, whatever it is.

Has it NEVER worked or did it suddenly start acting this way?

Do ALL sources act this way or only one(some)?

I'd look for a the Mute button or a Tape monitor incorrectly selected.

Dead no power.. checked main fuse, worked fine last night, went to turn it on today and nothing. its a sx-316 not sx-315, I say this because it tells me this is not a valid model#, but sx316 is printed on...

Check the resistance of the primary on the main power transformer, (with power off) should be 1-3 ohms. If open you need a new transformer.

If good turn it on and check for ac voltage (120v) there.

No sound

I just fixed mine. Plug in your head phone. wait couple of seconds. you will hear clicking noise which seems to reset the receiver. 10seconds later, sounds should come on and if not unplug the head phone and you should hear it then.

No sound from my speakers

Check your Surround Settings (Make sure you are in Full surround and not 2 ch) as well as your Input Source Remember the Surround Speakers will not give you a Full Audio Output it will only give you "background noise"

SX-315 Suddenly Shuts Off

Hi Pete7591

It is more likely to be an output stage problem. The unit will be shutting down as a result if a DC offset in a faulty channel. You will need to isolate the problem somewhat to diagnose what is going on. Do you have a multimeter and a decent knowledge of electronics? If so, then I can talk you throiugh some things to check. If you dont think you are up to it, I would take it to a HiFi repair guy for a look.

It may be more worth your while to buy a refurbished unit here for $132.

I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :)

Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.
