Our Whirlpool electric range model # GERC4110PS with ceramic top lost its ''BEEP'' when the timer, clock, etc. are being programmed. What causes this malfunction and what is the solution to this problem?

farkle, outside of Gendos's excellent advice, the issue could be with the keypad. If your model has a keypad ribbon that attaches to the main board, remove it and take a eraser and clean the ends. Then reinsert it. On the board there should be two clips on the end where the ribbon attaches. Lift these up and the ribbon will pull out. See if this solves the problem...Catriver.

Unplug the unit and see if this will reset the board. If this doesn't work then replace the oven control board.

According to the manufacturer's website you should only need to Press and hold the "Lock" key for 5 seconds. A single tone will sound and the "Loc" will disappear off the display.
