my HL-5250DN Brother printer has been working perfectly on a Bonjour network with Tiger (Mac software). I upgraded to Leopard, and it will print one page ok, then locks up when trying to print anything more. I have to delete the printer, then add a new printer. Then it will print one more page, then lock up. Any ideas
-   HP P1006 printer shows same problem - fails on Bonjour, fails on MAC, works fine when on Dell PC without Bonjour. MAC alway fails, both on Bonjour or not. Must reset MAC print queue manually, then print next doc. All sfw and drivers have been deleted and reloaded and up to latest level. MAC says HP problem and go back to them, yet works on Dell. After pressuring them MAC finally said they know of "some" problems with Bonjour not working "sometimes". MAC refused to even look at the Dell PC side not working with Bonjour - they say "not their problem". So much for the purchased MAC warranty. .
Printer was replaced by HP out of their kindness to help resolve. New one works same way.
I believe it started after a MAC Leopard software update about the middle of December 2008 but can't prove the actual time. But it used to work on MAC Leopard without Bonjour, now it doesn't. It will be cheaper for me to buy another printer instead of trying anymore to get Bonjour working.

-   I have not been able to successfully 'add a printer' for an HL-5250dn connected to my wireless access point. This setup printed fine under Tiger.-   mec31
Brother is totally fucked up under Leopard, found so far no chance to fix it. Brother's own printer drivers are 10.4 only -- lame

- On Leopard, I have it configured as IPP printer via TCP/IP -- download Brothers remote printing console from the support site (select ALL software, OS 10.5) ... sometimes it finds the printer, sometimes not; if not: restart your printer; if still not resetting the network card might help (as per http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/as/sg/en/faq/faq/000000/000100/000005/faq000105_009.html?reg=as&c=sg&lang=en&prod=hl2070n_all)

- another sleep deprived user tells us at <http://exilejedi.livejournal.com/205600.html> to revert back to TCP/IP printing, but :
the 5070N will not print correctly using Bonjour under 10.5. You want the CUPS driver and the "HP Jetdirect - Socket" protocol. Then poof! It's all happy again same holds for the 5250DN ... so I repeat Brother=LAME ... but now we know how to survive their incompetence

Our Brother 5250DN laser printer rarely awakens from sleep to print. It is a network printer. After sending a print job the printer remains asleep. Pressing the "go" button only brings it out of sleep but does not start the print job. We have to turn off the power and restart the printer in order to get it to print the queued print jobs. Is there a solution to this, possibly turning off the sleep feature? We would like the printer to print without someone standing over it to push buttons and turn off/on the power. Thanks.
