Universal remotes are a very limited devices for a replacement of a remote.U get the tv for power on/off,channel up/down and volume up/down,the basic that all u will ever get it out of the universal remote. No button said Menu on the front of the tv for acessing tv Menu, than sorry no combination of buttons, will help u to access the tv Menu.Sorry, but now,u must buy the tv original remote.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an original remote.
We used a One4All model URC3021BOO remote.
We programmed BOTH the TV function and the DVD/vcr button with code 0807.
To access the menu PRESS TV then MENU button then DVD/VCR button will allow you to change menu functions using left and right and select buttons.
*TV button will access Menu screen BUT NO menu functions.
* DVD/VCR button will NOT access menu screen but WILL control menu functions if menu is already displayed.
May work with other sharp products, or other universal remotes?
These original (RRMCG1330PESA) remotes run 38.00+ to buy new so try this FIRST!
For these tvs you have to unplug them for three hours to reset them. When you are able to access the menu if the remote control is not allowing you to move up and down left and right usually channel up is up channel down is down volume - is left and volume + is right. If worse comes to worse you can get the original remote from Sharp for $42.50 +tax and shipping by calling 1.877.674.2832 or from replacementremotes.com for $39.65 at 336-377-2220. The remote can always be returned if having it does not fix your problem.
No you need the remote ! and even most universals will not do that function for you either!
You can order an orignal replacment remote from www.remotes.com and that will let you access all of the tvs functions!
I hope I was of big help!

on some sets you can push both the channel up and down buttons to access the menu, then use them and the volume buttons to navigate the menu. otherwise you may have to get a programmable remote control.
I am not aware of access from front panel. However, a cheap RCA universal will work it. (RCA made GE tvs) http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=70604&WT.mc_n=4&WT.mc_t=U&cm_ven=COMPARISON%20SHOPPING&cm_cat=GOOGLE&cm_pla=DATAFEED-%3EPRODUCTS&cm_ite=1%20PRODUCT&cm_keycode=4
