We just bought the WII and finished setting it up...everything was fine. I went to put in the CD and the box won't take it. You know how you put a cd in and the system pulls it in? With the WII, the cd just sits there. I push the CD about half way in and it just sits there. I'm thinking it's broke.
Thanks!
Definitely a defective CD Drive, You can try to fix it yourself, which could prove to be difficult, but then again so would trying to install a new drive altogether. I suggest taking it back, and getting an exchange, since the first to options will only void your warranty.

your best option would be to format wii system memory. this will however erase all channels and data. you can fin this option by clicking the wii button on the lower left corner of the main menu. select wii settings, the go to page three by clicking the + button twice. then selct format wii system. after that download the netflix channel again and everything should be normal. please note that formating wii system will erase everything and set it to out of box settings.
Buy or rent a new Wii game that is made by Nintendo and intended for use in your region
Step 2
Turn on the Wii, insert the game and let it load.
Step 3
Wait as the firmware checker in the video game checks that the Wii's firmware needs to be updated. If this does not happen, it means no firmware checker is on the disc and another game will have to be obtained to try it again.
Step 4
Follow the directions presented onscreen when the firmware checker has finished checking. The firmware will now be updated.
Step 5
Eject the video game disc when the update is done and restart the Wii.
There might be something seriously wrong i would call Nintendo and see if it is hardware problem. As you could open it but that would void the warranty.
i don't know if this will help much but is the cover of the CD facing the right? my little brother put in a disc the wrong way and it said that it couldn't be read. that's all i can think of. anyway good luck
