Car will not start. After hours of researching the net, Most obvious reason is tripped anti-theft. Is there any way to reset this in order to START the car? Starter cranks over, gets spark, but fuel pump doesnt appear to be working. (It's been replaced as well as the filter, relay, cap/wires and air filter) Will reinstalling the factory radio help? (last owner put in an after market radio, but original is still with the car...research indicated the ECM?? is located in the original radio) Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I can't find the source now, but I'd read that the ECM was inside the factory radio. *shrugs* Almost everything I've ran across regarding this "no start" problem all seem to involve cars that have had an aftermarket radio installed (but none ever posted how long previous to the problem). Anyway, I'm going to reinstall the original since it's sitting in the trunk. And you're probably right in that I'll have to see a dealer to get anti-theft reprogrammed.

2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. How to get past the antitheft system on it please.

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

2016 escape titanium won't start. keyless. remote functions but won't start car. how do I reset computer?

Ok disconnect the battery cables like you were instructed in the first answer the when you reconnect them the vehicles alarm will go off when it does use your keyfob to shut of the alarm and it will come out of theft mode and start if you don't do this you will have the same problem no start then when you first put the key in turn it to on but don't crank the motor this gives the self test for the computer to start and you'll see dash lights for check engine and other sensors go out and you will here the fuel pump energize now crank and start give it 10 minutes running to relearn the sensor values then drive the car ok please make sure that there is nothing hanging on the shift lever and you only have 1 chip key in the car with you otherwise it will pick up both chips and will not start good luck stephen

Anti theft light blinking, dash lights up,windows roll up and down but car wont start. How do I start it?

If the anti theft light is blinking and you say that everything else fine.. My first thought is that the key is not programmed to the vehicle. The key has a internal chip that must be programmed to vehicle in order to start. Now my other question is, Is the key your using for the vehicle the original key or have you just recently had a key made? Regardless, in order for the yur Tribute to start, the key. Or keys have to be program to vehicle by your neighbor dealership. Thats the reason for your anti theft light is blinking

Cold morning car wont start

If the anti-theft light is flashing, turn the key to the On position and leave it there until the light stops flashing. Turn the key off, then try to start the car. The Anti-Theft system can get tripped for no reason and cause this exact problem.
