elainenemeth, Hi, Tell me more! How old is this LCD monitor? Is it out of warranty? Did the "SHUT-DOWN-IMMEDIATE" problem occur without warning? Did the BenQ display a "perfect" image the day before? Did you actually count----1001, 1002----1010 and then it shut down, after pushing the monitor on button. Did you do the "flashlight" test? With monitor connected to a "known-good", fully booted pc with Win Desktop displayed, TURN ON the monitor! Did it display the desktop for 1-2-10 seconds ? What did you see or not see when you pointed the flashlight at different angles about 1-2" inches from the now dark (black) screen? Get back to me with your results. The green power light indicates that the monitor is receiving from the
computer correctly. I suspect it is going into high voltage
shutdown. There is a safety circuit that monitors the high
voltage and shuts the monitor down if it sees anything amiss. So
the monitor comes on and then shuts off. High voltage problems
are generally not worth trying to repair. Another example of a
worthless safety feature. High voltage failures are not
dangerous, and adding the safety circuit just kills the unit when it
may have some life left or worse, sometimes it is the shutdown circuit
itself which fails!

Dor, BenQ has a 3yr warranty on their monitors. I would contact their tech support and receive an RMA to return it for repair. It will cost you shipping out there but they will ship it back. I has a BenQ FP731 myself and it blew a capacitor inside that allowed the screen to stay on. Fixed it and had it back in 5-7 days. Good luck.
