First of all boot to the Bios, think its F2 or Del key on that model..
In the advanced screen, checdk to see that USB controllers are enabled for the mouse.
If they are, try plugging another usb peripheral (usb drive or dongle) into the ports, if they ARE recognised, then issue is with the mouse. If they do not register, then issue is with the USB ports. Possibly a damaged USB controller

HP optical Mouse not working

Okay turn it over is there a light, if not unplug it and after a while plug it back in. If you don`t get a light on the bottom try a differnet pc to find out if the problem is your pc or your mouse.

My microsoft optical mouse isnt working on my lap top the red light is not working anymore so i cant get on my laptop so how do i fix it?

Replace worn out batteries in it. If that isnt the problem then access the BIOS screen by booting laptop up and pressing DEL key, search for setting that lists infra red laptop pad, enable and save / /reboot.

I plug in my mouse to my laptop and it wont work, the bottem doesnt even turn red.. when i connect it all it says is usb device not recognized, it worked last night and tonight its not.

Try disconnecting the mouse from the usb port and reboot the unit.
Now, on your touch pad, top left blue led is let showing it is functioning. Press the center button next to the led, which will shut off the internal mouse.
Plug in your mouse to a different USB port and the unit should see the mouse.
If not and the mouse does not light up, replace the mouse.
You may have had a conflict with the internal and external mouse.

I have a new HP Pavilion laptop and a new Belkin wireless mouse. I have plugged in the driver and the red light is on. I have also turned on the mouse. The mouse will not move the cursor. What is wrong?...

Did you press the reset button on the bottom or inside the mouse. That resets the mouse to the usb wireless you plugged in. And, make sure the batteries are good and orientated correctly in the mouse.

Belkin wireless travel mouse not connecting to Mac

If you have a usb extension cable try plugging it in so you can place it on a firm surface when you press the sync buttons. Have heard of some issues with activating both mouse and fob buttons at once because of difficulty in reaching the fobs sync button.

If your operating system is Xp / vista reimage your unit by hit F11 on started up & Hp splash screen - select advanced - select full destructive recovery - you have corrupted your device controler for human interface devices - like your k/board & mouse - there is no way to reinstall the required dll's so full recovery is required.
