Yes it can be repair but better in service center because it needs special skill in soldering and in electronic troubleshooting.

Make sure you use the (-) key in the left column above the RCL key to enter negative exponents, not the - key which subtracts.

Do get all results in decimal instead of fraction notation, press SHIFT [SETUP] 2 to select LineIO mode.

Please help me to use my TI - 84 so I can get a radical number when working with larger numbers. the steps I must take and having the TI - 84 set to the right function

I am afraid I do not completely understand what you want. This calculator does not have a Computer Algebra System or CAS. So the results of all calculations will be displayed as decimal numbers, and that includes the square and other roots that are irrational numbers (square root of 2, 3, 5 7, etc.)

You cannot manipulate radicals on this calculator, whether for small numbers or large numbers. Sorry.

I want to complete normal calculations. the default says it is set at D for angles in degrees or something I just want to balance my check book and everytime I put in the calculations I get a fraction for...

OK,do not worry. Press [2nd][MODE] to access tghe (SETUP) options. Then press 2 to select [2:LineIO]. from now on all your results will be displayed as decimal numbers. Do not pay attention to the D for degrees, if you are not doing angle calculations or trigonometry.

Another point. Since you only want to balance the checkbook, all your numbers have at most 2 decimal digits and it might be less tiresome for you if you configure your calculator to display just 2 figures after the decimal mark.

To do that
  1. Press [2nd][MODE].
  2. Enter 6 to select [6:FIX].
  3. Then enter 2.

My 12c fin calculator will not come on even with a new battery.. help

you should perform calculator tests to verify the good working order of the calculator.
  1. With calculator OFF, press and HOLD the [X] key, then press [ON]
  2. Release the [ON] key, then the [X] key.
This sequence initiates a complete testing of the circuits. If all is well., the calculator should display -8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8 and all indicators should be lit for about 15s. The calculator displays running.
If calculator displays Error 9, another result, or displays nothing it needs to be repaired.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
