Will automatically begin formatting and you will be good to go.

Press the Playback button(the one to view pictures) then select menu. Select the delete(trash bin) and press the right/left arrows and select all images in this folder. Then press the circle button to confirm.
To delete the images from the Camera, press the Play button on the Camera to view the images. Display the images which you want to delete and press the DELETE button (Recycle Bin icon) located below the lower left of the Control buttons.
To delete multiple images, slide the index lever and select with the control buttons.
While the index screen is displayed, press the Delete button and select the images with the control buttons and select Enter button. Now, select the images which you want to delete and press the Enter button to display the Delete icon on the images. Press the Delete button again to delete all the images.
You can also delete all the images in the folder by selecting All in this Folder to delete the images.

There is a button with a picture of a garbage can...this is the delete button and it works in review mode when you're looking at the pictures you've taken. Bring up the picture you want to delete and press that button...follow the on-screen instructions.
Unfortunately digital cameras have what you call flash memory, once its deleted it can't be recovered. If you do happen to press the delete button most cameras have you confirm the deletion prior so you have a chance to save it. You can also use the selector on your memory card to keep from deleting/writing over the disk, its a small switch the you flip and it keeps the disk from being written over is till switched back
There are 2 ways to delete pictures.
set your camera in playback / view mode and press delete button near menu button at rear of camera. pop up comes to ask delete...select yes and there it goes.
connect your camera to computer usb port and go to picture folder through My Computer > Removable Disk, select desired picture file to delete and press delete key at keyboard.

I had the same problem with my digital cam/corder! An alternative solution to deleting pictures off the camera is, trickily enough, through your computer! This may be a bit of a hassle as you have preloaded your pics. What you will need to do is redownload your pics. You should be asked the option of deleting your pictures after download, and you click on the box.
