Out of nowhere while scanning, the scanner gets stuck and makes a weird noise (it won't go back to the original position). I thought at first it might be because of the lock switch thing, but that's not it.
I think the answer might be resetting it, but I don't know how to.

First, try unplugging and re-seating the USB cable in your computer. I am assuming your scanner is not making any noise when you first turn on the computer. If that is not the case, respond back with more information. This is the most common solution to this problem with these scanners though.
i fixed it by taking the thing apart, pushing the scanner head (the block that is stuck-- that normally moves) back to the starting position. Make sure its snug at the end, a little bit off and you'll be putting it have to take it apart and back together a second time. There's a mirco swtich in there somewhere, and you need to make sure its pressed...
reconstruct, and hey presto, a working scanner!
this also worked for my epson 1250 that got stuck once.
