Philips DTR220/05 digital freeview reciever not recieving anymore

Hey guys. for some reason, over night, this box has stopped recieving our previous full channel list and now only lets us watch bbc 1 and 2...nothing more! out of 72 previous channels.

restored back to factory settings, searched for software updates and still nothing.

its simply happened over night!

i know the information maybe a bit vague but thats all i can give at this time :(

i ran the first time instilation again, twice and had the same effect. (only found 6 channels, and 2 radio)

i took out the signal amp from the aerial and splugged it directly into box, same reception. Plugged aerial into back of tv, crap picture but reception.

so, this leave me wondering as weather it is something to do with a service issue.

on the otehr hand, my housemate downstairs using a different freeview box, is having no problems apart from a few signal losses during viewing.

If the box is still receiving some channels, then the box is probably not at fault.

If you have done the full "First time Installation" rather than search for new channels, then eithe the aerial, connection or signal is likely to be to blame.

There have been several changes with the Freeview service over the last few months, and there will be more in the run up to analogue switch off.

In some cases, channels have moved, and in other cases the service has been switched off for a short period, low power etc.

Check the aerial on a standard analogue signal, if the quality is poor, then this rules out the box.

If the reception is the same without the signal amp, then its possibly the amp at fault.

Try your box on your housemates aerial point & TV.

The Philips DTR210 & 220 both have a more sensitive tuner than older models, and so, should give best possible reception.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My sagem dvr62160sl uk digital reciever wont work

A number of Sagem models have shown incompatibilities with the recent Freeview retune, there is a list of affected models (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/01_10_09_freeview2.pdf ) but it's not a fully comprehensive list. Sagem error code 07 means there's an access problem in back-up memory (stored in the EEPROM) and code 09 means the machine has been unable to find any data necessary to do an upgrade. In essence, your box has tried to upgrade itself and failed and now cannot restore to it's previous state.

Your dvr62160sl is closely related to the dtr6240 and 6280 models which are known to have had issues and so the official advice is to contact Sagem directly on 0845 0900 316 to find out how whether they can supply a solution on a dvd or if they've scheduled an OAD (over air update).

I hope that you've found my posting to be of use and ask only that you return the favour by rating my answer.

IVE GOT A DTR DIGITAL TERRRSTRAL RECIEVER BUT NOW LOST ALMOST ALL THE CHANNELS I WAS GETTING BEFORE.I HAVE ONLY GOT 5 OF THE NEW CHANNELS INSTALLED

Thanks for the info. You didn't state the manufacturer but I think you must mean the Philips DTR1500/05.

The official advice when a retune has not turned out as expected is to try again at least twice, but from experience I'd add the advice that you should do so at different times of the day.

There are some boxes which are known to have problems with the retune; yours is not on the official list but the channel numbering details which you've given do confirm that it's primarily a problem with your receiver and not with your aerial system or reception quality.

There is no user fix for this. All you can do is to contact Philips directly, but your box is a 2003 model and no longer supported by the manufacturer. OnDigital/ITV Digital/Freeview technical standards have evolved a great deal since then as one operator replaced another and many earlier chipsets have been found to be incompatible.

Contact Philips by all means, but I think that you may be better off investing the £20 or so needed to buy a newer receiver. If it helps, yours uses a lot more power than the newest models so you will make some energy savings and your box was only designed with around a five year maximum expected lifespan anyway.

Sorry I can't give you a more positive or encouraging answer. See the web address below which will show examples of other models with similar or worse issues to your own.
