Hello, experts. My Frigidaire GLD2150RCC has after three year's service developed an unusual noise and vibration. It seems to be occurring when the washer is pumping out to drain. It does this upon first start up and then in later cycles when it is pumping.
It creates a deep vibration that rattles the cabinets. It seems to be laboring hard, like pump cavitation. There is no air gap installed. I am guessing that the drain hose is partially blocked or perhaps the pump is simply worn.
The washer otherwise washes normally and effectively.
To follow up on this problem, I successfully solved the problem.
I disassembled the drain pump and found a piece of a toothpick in amongst the impeller vanes. I don't know if was actually preventing the impeller from turning or if it simply was interfering with the impeller but after removing it, the washer is back to normal operating condition.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.Make sure nothing is up against the motor! Also the drain pump on this unit can be loud. You can try to put something to help support the drain pump if it is vibrating. I would start looking at these things before calling for service.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..
Hi Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
Make sure your drain hose is attached securely to the underside of counter/sink area. If you have a air/gap, make sure it isn't clogged. Both will cause water to backfill back into the dishwasher especially if you're garbage disposal is clogged or restricted.
Two questions: 1) Are there filters that need to be cleaned on a routine basis with the FDB635RF? and 2) What causes the scum left behind on glasses and utensils? I use a rinse aid, but doesn't seem to be helping. This is a recent problem.
If you are sure that there is power going into the unit, the next place to check is the door latch switch. To check you might want to remove the door panel by taking out the screws around the inside edge. Use an ohm meter to test the switch
If the switch is working, it should show continuity when the switch is closed (and the power has been turned off). If you have a good switch, then you have a bad control board.
i recently had the same problem of a loud screeching noise. my unit
was installed new in 1999 and has worked well up to this point.
when i disassembled the tub water filter i found the filter was heavily
clogged (it is supposed to be self cleaning), and i also found glass
shards from a broken wine glass. i further disassembled the plastic
housing under the filter ( held in place by three torx drive screws )
which covers the pump impeller and holds the lower spray arm. while i
did not find any blockage in the pump area, and no abnormal sound when
i turned the impeller by hand, i did find that one of the pump impeller
vanes has a small chip which probably makes the impeller unbalanced
resulting in more than normal vibration. i cleaned the water filter
and reassembled the parts and the original screeching noise is now gone.
If it gravity drains, but the pump does not push out the water.......replace the drain pump. I just repaired an 8-year-old Frigidaire dishwasher with this very problem, and although it sounded like the pump was operating, it was not....it was just vibrating. I replaced the drain pump and it now works perfectly. I am a service tech with 38 years experience.
