Runs alot We just purchased a LG refrigerator freezer and it seems to run a lot of the time. There are two distinct sounds coming from the unit. Is this a normal operation?

Yes, there is the compressor that has a tinny high pitch sound and the condenser fan motor running at the same time.  The compressor is a very highly efficient motor that doesn't require a lot of energy to run but it does run quite long and often to keep the temperatures cold.

If it runs all the time with no cooling, your compressor may be insufficient or faulty. However, first check that there is no loss of charge on the refrigerant. This is the less expensive of the two problems to fix. If you find that the refrigerator runs continuously and is TOO cool, you either have a defective temperature control or this control needs adjusting. There may also be an instance where the unit runs excessively but the freezer and refrigerator are still not cold enough. This could mean issues with the evaporator fan, the defrost timer, or simply the sealing of the unit or could be compressor failure or a dirty or defective condenser.

okay, my name is marclavoris, what happens is your refrigerator goes into defrost, the heaters comes on and melts the freon off the coils, the water goes down in the drain, which you will see on the freezer side at the very bottom of freezer, you may need to take off inside back panel to access the hole. it is clogged up with alot of debri, so when it is backed up, it overflows under your bottom tray, it then goes into defrost again and it pushes water on your floor. To solve problem, clear the drain in the freezer

Fan runs all the time - freezer frost build up

The fan should cycle during recovery period after you opened the unit and then shut off. Make sure there is plenty of space around the unit for ventilation. If you've done this and you said it's 3 months old? Call for warrantee service.

Whirlpool Fridge makes a loud dripping sound all the time G56SHE

Erin,

The water you hear sounds like it's coming from the automatic defroster in the freezer compartment. It runs down a drain tube into the pan you describe under the fridge. The pan is heated and evaporates the water.

Just some possible explanations if you are hearing "lots" of water"

* You may be in a warmer, more humid climate
* The temperature and humidity in your dwelling is elevated
* The door gasket on the freezer may be leaking
* The freezer is too full
* The freezer door is not closing properly
* The freezer door is being left open for extended periods
* There is a problem with the defrost cycle

If you are hearing water running all the time, check the ice maker water line and fill valve (if you have an ice maker) - there could be a leak or other malfunction.

LG LRFC22750 Bottom freezer french door refrigerator

6343ed3.jpg The problem is ice build up on the back wall. The noise you hear is the fan blades hitting the ice. On the back wall water gets trapped, it then builds up over time, and a big ball of ice forms and blocks the fan. Take off the back wall, defrost the build up and cut the insulation off as above. The water will no longer get trapped and the problem will not come back.
