I currently am connected to broadband with Toucan which uses a modem that has a USB connection, I have tried following the useless instructions that came with my Belkin but when I try to set it up, (all the right lights come on) it says cannot connect to the internet so I cannot type in the 192.168.2.1 address, I have no idea how the cables etc go properly and I do not know if I am using the right adapter for the phone line, please help as I have been at this now for about 8 hours and Im seriously considering taking it back and getting a different make as I cannot find any solutions to this problem, I thought the hardest part would be setting up the other computer to recieve a wireless connection but I cant even install this on my main computer!

- thanks but this didnt help as my modem does not have an ethernet jack, my modem only has 2 wires, 1 is attatched which has the USB at the other end and the other is for my phone line, thanks anyway but Im now convinced that this will not work and Im tempted to throw it out of the window, as Ive spent 9 hours trying to connect it

- Thanks again but it seems that the router was faulty and my original modem has no other jack points on it, I gave up in the end after 13 hours of trying, I took it back this morning and brought a different make of router which installed straight away, thanks so much for your help.
First plug your router directly into your computer via the ethernet cable that came with the router. You'll want to connect the cable to the port on the router that says "Internet" (it's ussally to the far left when looking at the back of the router) make sure the other end is plugged into your computer's Network Interface Card (NIC).
Plug your computer into the modem via the UBS connection.
Insert the setup cd that came with the router and follow the prompts.
Once configured then unplug the ethernet cable from your computer and plug it into the modem (which should have an ethernet (RJ-45) jack as well as a USB.
Now you can either hook up to the wireless connection using a wireless adapter OR you can plug your computer in with a ethernet cable to one of the outgoing ports on the back of the router.

We have a 3000 sq ft split level house, so range is critical (could we extend range with antennas, access points)?
Stability and reliability are also critical
We use a comcast cable modem
Must support mixed environment - 2 Macs connecting wirelessly, 2 PCs (1 with a wired connection)
We all want to be able to share a printer (which will connect to router with a wired connection)
Network attached storage, media streaming - I'm not worried about these now, looking for basic connectivity. Though would be great if I could grow into this in the future...
