Question about Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop
I am trying to put the hard drive out of my computer into another computer to try and access its files, I can put it into the working computer but there seems to only be one cable to attach and I can't locate it on the working computer when switched on. Please help
I am assuming you mean a Dimension 5100 (desktop) and not an Inspiron 55100 (laptop). The Dimension uses SATA drives and as such your second, working system will need an SATA port to connect to. You should take the data cable from the non-working system with the drive since, if there is an extra SATA port on your working system, it will more than likely not have a cable attached to it. Each SATA port only supports the connection of a single drive. There may not be an additional SATA port on the working machine, in which case you're SOL (unless it uses the same HAL as the other, but that's another story).
