HP no internet.

I've been working on an HP Pavilion a6120n the last 2 days and still can't seems to fix the problem. The network card connects to the internet and all of the services are in order. The only problem I am having it accessing the internet with Internet Explorer. It is not loading any websites.

Can you 'ping' or 'tracert' to somewhere like www.yahoo.com ? to do this: Start->Run type in command and hit enter. then at the prompt type: ping www.yahoo.com or tracert www.yahoo.com. If you can, then check internet options in control panel and run network setup wizard also if you didn't already (do this first if not )

The A6120N is the big brother to my little 3120N which I love dearly and that means you have Vista installed on the computer. If you are connected to the internet, it also means you have the little blue ballons down on system tray sitting over your network connection icon. Am I correct so far???

HP IQ506 losses wireless connection woken from sleep mode

Well, my solution has worked six consecutive times so MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, this is the final fix. At any rate I went into the Device manager, network adaptor card, 802.11 wireless card and then the advanced tab. Here I found the the Carrier Detect disabled so I enabled it. I also went to the power saving mode on the same property list and set the value to CAM (Constantly Awake). As mentioned, I have put the machine to sleep six times since the change and all six time it reawakens with the network card enabled. You have to wait a about a minute once the system is back up for it to connect to the internet but it does so flawlessly. By the way, before I went to the Adavanced tab I hit the tab called General and it told me "The device is working properly". I'm not sure what this mean when in fact it could not see the network. I just ignored it.

I don't know if my making these setting changes will affect anything else but if you know that they will please notify me. So far, so good.

PS: HP support didn't seem to know anything about this. Neither the PC people or the printer people seemed to know about network issues. I like the machine quite a bit but the support left me cold.
