Check inside to see if the dial has come loose from the timer.
If it is clicking then the dial is not turning with the timer.
Let me know what you see.

    Please look at www.howstuffworks.com
You may have a gearbox problem.
Check for oil under the machine.
If there is your gearbox is leaking.

My Indesit washer model no IWC61651 ECO fills with water but does not do the wash cycle will run for hrs keep filling water but programme never moving

Lynne,

The drain hose for the washing machine is pushed too far down the standpipe causing the water to siphon out of the machine. Look at the diagram below:

-make sure standpipe is at least 18-30inches high
-only push drain hose in 4-6inches

Washing machine makes clicking noise after filling up and wont spin. Kepps on clicking until i force shutdown, which then drains the water away.

hi, the problem you have is the motor carbons (brushes) have worn down ( which is natural if machine is used every day ). the machine fills up with water but there is no motor action. the clicking noise you are hearing is the relay on the pcb sending a signal to the motor to turn, but with the carbons worn, there is no motor action. Easy enough to replace them. UNPLUG machine before any repairs are carried out.

Reset the machine by unplugging and see if that will help.

What controls the water cut-off feed during cycles and when dail is set in off position.

There are electronically turned on and shut off water valves that are controlled by a water level sensor which varies based on what load size/water level you need Small, Medium, or Large. So if the valve gets stuck open since it's an old machine, the water will just keep coming in. But let me ask you this? If you turn the house water value on n NOW...will the wash machine just start filling? If so, it means your valve is stuck open so you would need to replace the water valve which is like $50 online. If the house water valve is on, and when you start the washing machine it starts filling, but just keeps on filling...that's probably because your water level sensor is messed up. So you have 2 things to check...is it the washer water valve is stuck open? or is it the water level sensor that isn't sensing when the washer is full so it just keeps filling it.

The water won't shut off keeps filling the tub

seems like a water valve is suspect, turn the water off st the taps, if it stops filling up thats your problem, if it dosnt and the drain is beneath the sink, its possibl the dirty water from the sink is going into the machine, make sure the pipe is higher than the botom of the sink bowl.

On a normal wash cycle, you will see very little if any water sloshing around, this is quite normal on todays washers.
You shuold see a lot more on the rinse cycle, as it is a higher fill.
It is usual to more less fill the compartment with powder, unless you are only washing a few items, then half fill it.
Hope this helps.
