Question about Samsung Digimax S630 Digital Camera

1 Answer

No Sound I just got a new computer so I can burn home movies from my Samsung S630 to DVD. The computer recognizes the video, but not the sound. My camera works fine and the sound on the computer works fine except for when I try to play my videos. I've heard that I need codecs but don't know what type and where to get it. I don't have internet at home, so I'd need to burn the codec package to a CD and transfer it to my computer. Do you know what I need?

Vista lacks the sound codec needed to play sound for Samsung S630. In my case, I needed a codec called Mu-Law. You can check to see what codec is needed by downloading GSpot.

Try downloading K-Lite codec pack at:

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_li...

When installing K-Lite, during configuration, make sure the Mu-Law codec option is activated.

In order to save the video to a DVD windows burning programs, convert the video from .avi to another popular format. I used a trial version of Prism Convertor.

I'm posting to my own problem in case others have similar problems.

Youll need to get your camera to a broadband equipped PC and then try the shot videos. Windows media player will automatically download the codecs needed, but I dont know how to get those to your PC.

Down loaded flip video to disc. Disc will not play on TV but will play on computer

Hello. There are a few factors as to what would allow or disallow the disc to play. The main reason is going to be the file type the video was saved as. Your computer will have an easy time playing because it can recognize the file type. As for DVD players or TV's with built in DVD players the device will have be able to recognize the file type and know how to play it. For example some DVD players may play a DivX movie but not an AVI. So your player probably doesn't recognize the file type you are wanting it to play. One other possibility is the disc wasn't finalized when burned.

First, I need to ask the dumb questions:
1. Are both computers running XP?
2. When you connect the camera, do you turn the camera on?
3. Do other USB devices work when connected to the same
USB PORTS you are using to connect the camera?

Ok, since the camera is not recognized at all on both computers, we can pretty much disregard USB PORT failure, but just in case, try different USB PORTS on both, please.

Most if not all cameras should be recognized as mass storage devices just by connecting them to USB PORT on computer, and should be visible as a new drive in MY COMPUTER icon.

Maybe your bundled USB CABLE is not working, or this is one camera that insists on using the bunbled software package that came with the camera.

Last thing to try is to buy a multi-card reader/writer and put the memory card in there. That has to work!

Hope that helps.

No sound when i download to windows movie maker-S630

I have the same problem with playing videos from my Samsung Digimax S600 on Windows Vista. The audio plays fine on the camera, but not in Windows Media Player. The only solution I've found is to play the videos in Quicktime...then the sound works just fine. Hope this helps.

No sound

it sounds like that camera is fine. It might be the settings on the software for the camera. You can edit videos with most digital camera software and you may have put a mute setting on all uploaded video.

There is probably a setting in the DigiMax Master software on your PC that is causing the sound not to appear.
