Question about Refrigerators

Kenmore side-by-side 106.52764100 Frig leaking water

My frig is leaking water from somewhere near the front. Possibly from the freezer door? The water pan under the frig is never full after I notice the water on the floor. I sat on the floor for several minutes and can not see where the water is coming from. I watched the ice-maker fill and it is not coming from there. I watched the water filter fill with and did not see it coming from there, if so the pan would be full. There was no water on the floor last night when I went to bed and there was a pretty large one foot puddle this morning. This is not the first time and it does not do it all the time????????

Thanks

I found my problem. I poured hot water into the drain in the rear of the freezer. The water came out; however, it is running out the large square (overflow) opening in the front of the plastic drain line. This causes it to run down the side of the drain line and missed the pan and ran on the floor of the frig which runs out onto my floor.

Why is this square opening there. The water just flows out of it and runs over the side of the pan

    NEW DRAIN LINE?

Do you have a Dog ??? I had a customer who had a problem like this once.................Only to find out in the middle of the night the dog jumped up and with his nose pressed the water dispenser..If not plz check inside the freezer and see if your drain is clogged pull the bottom drawer out and look on the back wall..
PS: the pan even with a clear drain will not fill up the condenser fan with the heat from the condenser will evaparate the water after a defrost cycle

Finding a puddle of water each morning under the left front of frig--does not leak during the day?

YOUR DRAIN IS CLOGED.LOOK AT THE BOTOM BACK PORTION OF YOUR FREEZER. (INSIDE) WHEN YOUR FREEZER GOES INTO DEFROST THE WATER HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE. IF THE DRAIN IS CLOGGED IT WILL FLOW OUT THE FREEZER DOOR.

Freezer is working fine, but frig is warm,

Look for the return vent near the bottom probably behind the crisper. You'll have to remove it to see the vent. There may be an adjustable flap in to to adjust the meat keeper area. Make sure it's open.

Your evaporator drain pan under the fridge may be misplaced. If so, simply pull out the unit and place the pan back where it goes under your box. Hope this helps!

Freezer works but frig is not cooling

I don't know this particular frig, but evidently the defroster doesn't work. Frost buildup has blocked the flow of cold air.

There is a defrost timer, under the frig, accessible from the front. You can turn it with a screw driver. Turn it till you hear a click. If the timer hasn't been turning, that should turn on the defroster, a heating element nested among the freezer coils. Wait half an hour and if it is defrosting, water should be dripping into the drip pan underneath the frig. If so, then replace the defrost timer and you're good to go.

If that doesn't make it defrost, then the problem is probably the defrost thermostat, in with the freezer coils. When the frig defrosts, the defrost heater stays on until the defrost thermostat gets warm. It should be open circuit while warm. But if it is open circuit while cold, it is bad and is the cause of your defrost problem.

If you open up the freezer coils, use a hair dryer to defrost. That is safer than hot water.

Hope you can fix it.

Water in the frig and possible overheating

clean the coils and check to see if the condensor fan is working. Call your local dealer and ask them to order you new o-rings for the filter mount to fix the leak from the filter.

Frig side is not cooling.

Check if there is frost on the back wall of the freezer, if so it is not defrosting. Many GE fridges need a new defrost heater every couple of years. If it's not defrosting, you can get by for a while by unplugging the fridge and leaving the freezer door open for 24 hrs, then plugging back in.

defrost drain channel is almost certainly blocked in freezer, to rectify turn of overnight leaving doors open, turn on the next day 12 hours later and it should then work ok.

Leaking water

test: first, turn off water supply to frig. then dry up all water. then ensure frig is running at right temperature. now gradually turn on water and observe where leak is. My guess is it is overflowing the ice-maker. there is an adjustment for this. pop off the cover over the end of the ice-maker. look for a screw adjustment. turn it counterclockwise.
