Amanda, If yours is newer construction (less than 40 years) the microwave is likely to have it's own circuit breaker in the electrical panel (in the garage or basement?) so no other lights or outlets might have gone out. I have never seen a microwave that had it's own user-replaceable fuse or circuit breaker.

Do you have a ground-fault outlet somewhere near the sink? Sometimes the microwave would be wired in to a ground-fault outlet, even though nothing appears to be plugged in to it. Plug something in to the ground fault outlet to test it. (Ground fault outlets can trip mysteriously, or if it keeps happening you have a real fault somewhere and might need an electrician.) If that's not it, you are going to need to get the microwave powered up from a known live power source, and if that doesn't work, it will have to be taken apart or replaced.

New microwave stopped working after 15 seconds

Possibly the fuse / breaker is tripped, usually all outlets in one room share same breaker. Check breakers (or fuses) or try outlet in differnt room. If the outlet has power, (plugin a lamp to check) and the microwave still does not work, take it back to store for replacement or refund.

If you try to heat something for a minute , the microwave will turn on for about 15 seconds then shut off . It doesn't even seem to warm the food.

It may need a reset. You can do that by unplugging the power for a minute or two, then plugging it back in and setting the clock.

If it still fails, you may have a failing cooling fan or a problem on the control circuit board.

It is actually NN-T695SF, it will not warm food. It powers up then goes dim, then powers up then goes dim, it keeps doing that. Food comes out cold.

Hi, if it is an inverter microwave and the problem is cycling every 2-3 seconds, my experience is the magnetron has most likely gone short circuit and the inverter board is shutting down to protect itself and then restarting, hence your symptom.
DO NOT try to test this unless you are experienced with extra high voltages - the voltages present/stored in a microwave even when powered off can kill you.

Power to microwave but does not cook food

You didn't mention your brand or model number, but I'll assume it's a Panasonic since you posted this under a Panasonic category.

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://207.234.249.73/mwd/safety.txt , http://207.234.249.73/mwd/disassembly.txt and http://207.234.249.73/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

If it stops after 7 seconds, it has a problem with the inverter.

If it stops at 16 seconds and is a sensor model, it probably has a defective humidity sensor.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter, controller, magnetron, or a bad connection from one or the other.

Display codes H95, H97, H98 or H99 mean that there's a problem with your inverter, magnetron, or digital programming circuit.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Microwave turns off after 10-15 seconds.

Make sure you hear the fan is still operating in your microwave. Next is to make sure the air intake grill on your microwave is not plugged up with air borne dust and dirt.

also.
for heating problem
Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay

Microwave shutsdown after 24 seconds, does not heat up

Classic symptom of a defective inverter. It it's under warranty, you're probably in luck. If not, expect repair costs of about $120-150. If you can find a servider who will repair the inverter instead of just replacing it, you can save some money. If you or a friend can replace it yourself, you'll really save, assuming you follow safe procedures. You can find my file "safety.txt" via a Yahoo search. It is part # A606Y5X00AP for model NN-T993S and runs $62.83 plus shipping. The inverter can be gotten from Panasonic at http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/epartr
