Question about Acer AL1714 17" LCD Monitor

This sounds like your Video card might not be compatible with the game you are playing. You might need a better video card. Before you do anthing else, check to see if your computer is fast enough to play it.

Big games can crash slow computers, also it could just be a bad monitor.

Try checking the cord between the monitor and the computer.

nope. the resolution has bumped up for some reason out of range for the monitor. Does it only happen in the game? that might be a clue.

System can't fix restart problem itself
Found this on the GT website:

  1. When Gran Turismo 6 is launched while connected to PSN, a message will appear on screen informing the users that "the latest update data for this software has been found (Version 1.03)".
  2. Once accepted (by pressing the X button while selecting [OK]), a "Please wait..." message will be displayed. After a few seconds, the PlayStation 3 system will emit 3 acoustic signals and restarts automatically.
  3. At this point, some users may receive a message stating that the system was not shut down correctly last time. The system will ask then to perform a system file check and then the reboot is completed.
  4. Users will be prompted again to download Update 1.03, whether they received the message in step 3 or not.
To avoid this issue:

  1. To avoid this issue, please accept to download the Update by selecting [OK] within 2 seconds of its appearance on screen when prompted. This will update the game properly.
  2. If you wait longer than 2 seconds, please decline the Update by pressing the Circle button when the message in step 1 is displayed, then select [Back] in the subsequent "Sign-In to PSN" screen. The game will start, quit the game using the PS button while in the [My Home] screen and follow the procedure described above.
This requires fast fingers and is a "work around" solution only but should fix your issue!

I can not shut off the computer because something is still running in Finder, apparently. I get a message to close whatever is open in Finder and try again. I can't find what is open. My grandson...
Go to the apple menu then down to force quit if there is anything other than the finder running select it and then click on force quit, then try restart. If it still does not restart, do a forced shutdown by pressing down on your start button until it shuts down.

My computer shuts down when i play games. when i'm playing it shuts down in 30 min or 6 min. when i'm not playing games my pc doesn't shut down. well at least not so much as i'm playing games. can you help...
well why not upgrade your RAM.....maybe those games you are playing is eating the memory space

Monitor shuts off randomly!
1. This is main-board related. You either have a Micro controller or power supply issue that needs to be address by a tech. Shut down is direct relation to a circuit component in the start up that has failed.

What I did?

1).Shut down the system from the switch on the back.
2).Place and hold your finger down the on/off power button.
3).Turn the switch on the back “ON”, while still holding down the on/off power button.
4).Release your finger from the on/off power button, after you hear 2 beeps.
