Hi Mark,

First of all thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.

You've mentioned that you can hear a slight grinding noise. This noise came from either a faulty color wheel or fans. To isolate where the fault came from, first I would advice you to access the "error code operational check". This is a built-in software that log and give an equivalent error code by means of blinking LED to determine the exact caused of the symptoms.
How to access the "Error Code Operational Check".
1. Turn on the TV and wait until it automatically shutsdown.
2. Pressing the front panel "Input" and "Menu" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds, activates the Error Code Mode. The Timer LED flashses denoting a two digit Error Code.Example, if the error code is "42" the led will flash 4 times pause and flash 2 times and it will cycle for a total of 5 times.
Please let me know what is the error code.
If you can't access the error code mode because the TV didn't gone to shutdown. I would advice you to open the rear panel of the TV to pinpoint where the grinding noise came from.

12_19_2011_11_46_04_pm.jpg
1. Remove 8 screws (A) from the external input frame.
2. Remove 10 screws (B) form the rear cover.
3. Pull the rear cover from the TV.

Tape the lamp cover switch to closed position like on the picture above or else the unit will not turn on.

Your TV has a 3 fans :
1. DMD fan
2. Lamp fan
3. chassis fan

If the grinding noise came from the fan(s) you have to replaced it. All fans have the same part no. 299P312010
However if the noise came from the optical engine assembly, you have to replaced it part no.938P059050

Minolta ep 2151 D has C-5 error code

If you look at the fuser heatting lamp and it looks like a cande cane it is blow. You will have to replace the lamp to reset the code. You may also need to change the thermal fuse and or the thirmister as well. They all deal with a c5 error code. If I remember correctly there is a trouble reset botton on the back of the copier, it is on the main controler of the copier it is a small "Black" botton. You will have to take the back covers off to get to it. I believe a c8 has to do with the scanner power cable getting stuck. It has been about ten years since I worked on one. Good Luck

Minolta EP2030 shuts off immedietly when I power it on

Do you see a error code? Like a C5? Try holding the power botton on and look for a code that shows up on the display. You may have a blown heater lamp or scanning lamp. You are losing your AC power some where.

Replace a lamp on a photocopier

Hello, the C5 code will only show up after the C7 code -- Fuser temp. to low. First put a meter on the Thermal fuse and the Thermistor and see if it is blown. The fuse and thermistor are under the black ( usually) fuser cover which runs the lenght of the fuser. If the fuse and /or thermistor are blown, replace. The lamp will not come on if the fuse or thermistor are blown. If the fuse and thermistor are good then take the end cap off of the fuser ( usually 1 screw) and disconnect the brass (usually) from the lamp. Check the lamp ( continuity), is the lamp okay. If not replace the lamp. If all of these are good then check the Solid state relay unit ( usually in the lower right hand side looking at the back of the machine with cover off). If the relay is good then you have to replace the PWB-A, the main board.

Error code on a T-A TA215Z copier.

C5 is a Main Charge Wire Error. Either the main charge wire is broken or the plastic blocks are arching out.
Open the front door, and look for a gray handle that will slide out towards you. This is usually located above the drum.
The main charge wire is a very very thin wire that charges the drum in the copy process. If the wire is broken, no copies can be made. To make sure that this is the problem, leave the charge stick out, and close the front door and let the machine warm up. If it does, then you have located the problem.
If it still show a C5 error, the the problem is in the Transfer Charge coronas which is located under the drum.
Let me know what happens, and I can try to help you further.
Good luck.
