Question about Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop

Eamils I am having a problem after my note book needed re booting i am tryinh to re set my enail but it will not recognise pop3@virgin.net or the smtp@virgin .net I also have a problem with the mouse on the note book it has stoped working please can you help ????? Loz

I have a hp 110-1033 note book need to install a new hard drive how do i put in the os with no rom drive


Since there is no cd-rom drive on notebooks you have to use usb flash drive and do it this way. You are probably going to need to get few gigs to complete this. Here is an example on how to install windows xp from usb. http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4900. Good luck with this.

I switched to att.net for incredimail and am unable to send e-mai


If you are using windows mail you need to modify you account settings for the new mail server. You need to know your user name and password for your account. You will also need the Incoming Mail(POP3) and Outgoing Mail(SMTP) and if the server requires authentication. You will get this information from AT&T. Once you obtain this info you can modify the current account or add a new one using under the tools tab then accounts.

You are receiving this error because of one of two reasons:
1) Your email account is not set up properly. Click on Microsoft Outlook, click on Tools, then Accounts. You will see a window with columns stating Account-Type-Connection. If an account is set up then click on it then click on Properties. Click server tab and you will see the SMTP server block and the POP3 server block. Both of these fields will read as follows: pop.XXXXX.net and smtp.XXXXX.net. Your Internet Service Providers name will be in the XXXX. If these are not set up properly then you cannot connect to send email. If they are filled out correctly then you need to call your Internet Service Provider and inform them of your situation. Their server is not working properly.

Pop3 server does not respond in 60 seconds


if the server is still NTL try to manualy reconfigure the settings, here are the settings you need: Protocol = POP3

Incoming Mail Server = pop.ntlworld.com

Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.ntlworld.com

hope this resolves the problem

you have to go into the settings and set the correct POP3 outbox settigns. You should be ablet to get the address from the email provider. On there site seach "POP3 outbox address"

Email cannot connect to your server. please give me current servers mine are onetel


You haven't given a description of your issue, but seem to have a some problem with email, and using onetel services. The following is from their site at http://support.onetel.co.uk/index.php?page=159. This should allow you to make sure your settings are appropriate.


Please find below the basic Onetel e-mail settings:

If your e-mail address ends in onetel.com:
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.onetel.com Port: 110
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.onetel.com Port: 25
  • Username: the first part of your e-mail address (everything before the @ sign)
  • Password: the password you chose when you registered the e-mail address with Onetel

If your e-mail address ends in onetel.net:

  • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.onetel.net Port: 110
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.onetel.net Port: 25
  • Username: your full e-mail address
  • Password: the password you chose when you registered the e-mail address with Onetel
Additionally, http://support.onetel.co.uk/index.php?page=170 contains various information depending on the email software you utilize on your equipment, and indicates specific instruction for setting up accounts on each.

I need the settings for a d-link dkt-410 to virgin broadband.the router is recognised by the laptop,but the router is not recognised by the provider.as you can see im no expert! thanks


With this you will have to reset the Virgin box to deregister the Mac address it holds.
Connect the computer to the router and have both turned on, connect the router to the Virgin (always wated to type that) and then unplug the power from the virgin (this is getting better all the time)
Leave it unplugged for 15 minutes, then power it back up with the router and computer already running.

Log into the router and check it has been assigned an IP address by the Virgin (yeah, I had to get one last one in)

POP3 server has not responded in 60sec. A timeout has occurred while communicating with acct. centurytel.net


could be a number of problems.
To test this I tried to telnet to mail.centurytel.net on port 110 and it did not work. Of course this is assuming that the incoming pop3 is set to: mail.centurytel.net

If it is possible that the MX record is not set to point to the right IP which is:

mx3c35.carrierzone.com internet address = 209.235.147.40
mx4c35.carrierzone.com internet address = 209.235.147.41
mx1c35.carrierzone.com internet address = 209.235.147.38

I would suggest that you contact the hosting provider and ask then to look into the reason telnet is not working.
