Question about Yamaha RX-V730 Receiver

No output on left main speaker on Yamaha RX-V730

I rarely use this unit and brought it new about 2 yrs ago and it worked perfectly when used. Recently I noticed I wasn't getting any sound out of the left front main speaker. I checked the speaker and the wiring and they are both fine. I even went into the menu and checked the balance, this is also ok. Is there anything I can do, or does this receiver need to go to the shop? Thanks in advance

Thank you, but here is a follow up..If I turn up the volume the left main speaker comes on and then works fine even if the volume is lowered. When I turn it on after it has been off for a couple of hours, I need to do this volume thing to get it working correctly.

    Any idea's?

If the volume control is a digitally controlled attenuator someone technical could locate the IC then they could see if it's functioning right or needs to be reflow soldered.
If it's a motor-driven potentiometer then chances are that THAT pot may be your problem.

I'm trying to connect my yamaha rxv592 reciever to my samsung smart tv LCD. The reciever doesn't have a optical option or hdmi. I love surround sound. Please help

You need something like this:

Digital to Analogue 5.1 converter:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/131104197505?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=107&chn=ps

I have never used one of these before, but i have worked in the audio industry and if this device works as advertised it will suit your needs.

I have a Yamaha RX-V1200 receiver (6.1).

I would get it assessed to see if the unit is worth repairing. There are Ic's and stand alone transistors that could add up when it comes to repairs.

I have a Yamaha RX-V2092 with a 7 speaker set up. Purchased new. Everything has worked great until recently. Now the center channel speaker, left front effect speaker & left main speaker short off...

It seems that the main sound processor comes into an error and so seems a fault on the board. Since checking for a component level solution is very tricky as the access is not friendly, what could be done initially is to remove and reset the boards, check for faulty connectors that seems to vibrate and bring in these faults. Check the solde joints of the connector pins on the board. Check and solder the processor IC and the allied circuits. If the fault seems to disappear when the set heats up then you must check using a magnifier.Check the solder on the audio driver outputs of the center, main , front and rear are clean.
If not refer and proceed with consensus as a false move can cripple the set.

How do you reset a yamaha rx-v730 the protection switch on the relay keeps tripping

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for ntermittent shutdown.

The REC OUT jacks on the back are usually the best as they are not affected by the system volume. You'll need an RCA L and R Male to Headphone (1/4" female) adapter (available at Radio Shack and online sellers).

Sounds like the output stage of the amp is bad. Needs service.

Yamaha RX-V596 main rigth channel problem

The right or left (side) output channel has blown out. If it uses discrete transistors you'll have to replace two of them (one PNP and one NPN) along with several resistors that are part of the circuit (I'm guessing the static occurs on any input source).
Now , if the static happens only on certain input, then the problem should not be in your amp.

Need a hookup diagram for yamaha rx-v461 plus yamaha yst-sw216 please

Hi,
Here you can find the manual for your subwoofer. Looking at its back side, it has 2 RCA plug input for stereo. Receiver has just mono sub output, but as low frequencies are not easily locatable, mono is perfectly OK.
Just connect receiver SUB-OUTPUT with RCA cable to your subwoofer's RCA LEFT input. Then adjust volume to match rest of your speakers.
