Hd50lpw164 noises I have a hd50lpw164. I to thought the fan was making a noise, come to find out the noise is in the area where the bulb points in. Am I correct to assume it is the color wheel? I haven't been able to find a replacement part and living in a rural area it's hard to find a repair shop. Any suggestions? Thanks

Good luck getting a part number for the color wheel from RCA. I have the same DLP and they will not give me the part number since it is a non-consumer replacable part. I will never buy RCA again

You are right it is the color wheel that is causing all that noise. The color wheel has to replaced, oil or WD will not fix it. To get a replacement it is best to call the manufacture and they will ship the part directly to you.

I have a broan ceiling light and exhaust fan. We changed the light bulbs now the fan is really loud and makes noise it didn't before?

Did you use the recommend wattage bulb (or that was in there)?

If you used the same or a higher wattage bulb it may burn hotter. When bulbs "burn" (are on) they actually do burn-out and may get cooler (and not as bright).
Changing the bulbs may also have shaken dust loose, allowing the fan to turn more freely and quickly, and if the bearings/lubricated points which may have been worn now shake about causing more noise, or, dust got onto the fan blades causing them to be heavier on one part than another which will definitely cause it to shake about and make a lot of noise (like unbalanced clothes in a washer's spin cycle).

Why does tv make screeching noise after changing bulb

Your color wheel is most likely the cause of the sound and will most likely need replacement.

Something is moving by lamp is making noise

The color wheels are famous for needing replacement when the bearings wear out. Thats usually the only thing other than the Lamp fan that can cause noise near the lamp.

RCA HD50LPW164 turned on TV made a pop

the loud pop you heard was probably a capacitor blowing its top. The grinding noise is likely high voltage arching that was occuring due to rising voltage since capacitor isn't there to smooth it out.

My bulb went out on my infocus sp-4805. I bought a new bulb, and replaced it, and it worked...for five minutes. the picture went out, and it was overheated. I took some parts off, and sprayed can air in...

The fan is probably on it's way out and cannot produce enough air flow to cool the lamp. Replace the fan with the same ratings as the original and it should work fine. The only other thing would be a problem with the power supply not supplying enough power to the fan, but, a bad fan is more likely.

I have owned a Sony Grand Wega for about 3 years now and for the past few months the TV has been making a very loud noise. I thought the noise was the fan but came to find out it was not the fan and was...

Hello,

There is a fan beside the lamp chamber in this TV. There should be 4 fans total, and the one beside the lamp chamber might be making some noise. They are all bearingless fans, so the noise should be relatively low-pitched "whirr" if it is the fan. If the noise is more of a buzzing sound, it could be coming from the lamp driver (ballast) or from the lamp itself. Lamps tend to do strange things toward the end of their life.

If you have never changed the lamp, it is about time. They have a 2.5 -3 year life span with average use.

One thing you can try is to turn the TV on from a cold start, and watch inside the vent areas beside the lamp chamber. If you hear the noise before you see the lamp light up, then it is probably a fan. If it starts as soon as you see the lamp light up, it is the lamp or ballast.

Hope this helps you...

Buzzing sound by bulb

be quite sure that it is not the fan physically touching the case; other than that, scope your B+ voltage to the ballast and be certain it is clean;  while it could be that or the lamp itself, it is most probably loose or misaligned case assembley
