Yes I did format the first drive,
I just bought it used and has some kind a linux morphius in it.I replaced that dive with a new one but I did not format it.The third drive was 100 gig 7200 RPM ,then I tried again with 80 gig hard drive with 5200 RPM.

let me refresh my question>I put the window XP on the drive,It say press any key to start fom cd rom then start loading files, after that when it say SET UP IS STARTING WINDOWS It will Pause and thats it.
Seems to me its not detecting the C drive, but when I format it in Dos its there and format 100 percent.

The drive has been formatted, therefor nothing in it.yes driver being downloaded, like I have been said it would stop after all the driver has been download.it will not finish the process of installing the windows,in fact it would stop where it it say on the bottom ,Set up is starting the windows.
Yes windows cd are good just got them from microsoft, never been register.I have 4 windows xp pro and 1 xp home and 1 vista home.I'd tried every one of them .
No,it will not boot on safe mode since there are no operating system in it.
I already said the hard Drives are also Brand New.and I format it with recovery cd.
Now this is sound weird because I put a hard Drive with windows XP on it (from different Laptop)(sharp)It recognize the windows because it ask me how I want it open.I tried to open in safe mode but it will not open.Do you think you can help me on this?

When you formatted was it a quick format and did you use fat32 or ntsf?Aslong as you have enough free space win xp should install the drivers. Also did you make a new partition?

Does it tell you that you already have an operating system installed? If so it should prompt you if you want to use the exsisting partition or create a new one. Also are the jumpers on the hardrive correct.Ive seen this issue plenty of times and its usually means a partition has to be made.Is the win xp copy good?no scratches on the disk. Also when it says press any key do you see on the bottom left of the screen drivers being loaded?can you ge in to safe mode, ifso try to start in safe mode and start with minimum drivers

Hi..i have HP pavilion dv5 laptop with preloaded Windows Vista. i want to istall windows xp instead of vista. i tried installing it using xp bootable disc. but after loading the required installation files...

its very simple....
enter the bios setting...The BIOS settings menu is accessible by pressing the f2 or f10 or the f6 key on some computers.
if the BIOS provides an option to disable the native-SATA configuration in the BIOS, do the following steps to Disable the native-SATA in the BIOS

1. Use the cursor to navigate the Configuration options to locate the Native-SATA setting. 2. If there is a SATA setting, select the Disable option, and then press F10 to save the change and restart the computer.

if your system bios does not contain such option.... then find "Native SATA mode" or "SATA IDE"
then change "AHCI" to "ATA"
then press F10 to save the change and restart the computer.

My Vista laptop will install MS Picture It Publishing Platinum 2002 but stops working when I try to run the program. I was told any PC software newer than 2000 will work on Vista.

Its not just the same that everything will work in vista. Do this procedure to work with the software. Go to the executable file (.exe ) of MS Picture Publishing and then go to its properties , u can find Compatibility Tab , in that select the Program to run in Windows XP Mode. So when u set the compatibility mode you can run the program in Windows Vista.

Lj 1012 or 1022 hangs the print spooler

Since you're mentioning policies, you've probably got a bit more background than most.

Check your update histories. You're looking for the same correction/time-factor with both XP/Vista.

Verify the driver version. Download the newest driver. Try it on one machine. Try the previous one.

Look at other printer drivers installed. Multifunction printers are the worst for conflicts and hogging resources.

How to get to a MS-DOS prompt.
Reason: If Windows or the computer is not operating properly, it may be necessary to get to a MS-DOS prompt to diagnose and to perform additional troubleshooting on the computer.
Solution: MS-DOS users
Windows 3.x users
Windows 95, 98 and ME users
Windows NT, 2000 and XP users
Windows Vista users
Other PC Operating System users

MS-DOS users If you are running MS-DOS with no other operating systems, the computer should be booting into a MS-DOS prompt automatically unless you have a shell or other program loading automatically. If the computer is not getting you to a MS-DOS prompt, reboot the computer and as the computer is booting, press the F5 key when you see the message "Starting MS-DOS" or the MS-DOS version. This will load the default standard MS-DOS. If you successfully get to a MS-DOS prompt and would like to prevent the computer from loading the program that is preventing you from getting to a MS-DOS prompt, or if you would like to fix possible error messages you may be receiving when booting the computer, edit the autoexec.bat and/or the config.sys files.

Windows 95, 98, and ME users If you are able to get into Windows 95, 98 or ME, you can get to a MS-DOS prompt by following the below steps.
  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type "command" and press enter.
This will open a MS-DOS shell. However, if you are attempting to troubleshoot an issue with the computer and are using Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98we suggest you restart the computer into MS-DOS. To do this follow the below steps.
  1. Click Start
  2. Click Shutdown
  3. Choose the option to restart the computer into a MS-DOS prompt.
If you are unable to get into Windows 95 or Windows 98 to get into a MS-DOS prompt, follow the below instructions (Windows ME does not have this option).
  1. Reboot the computer
  2. As the computer is booting, press the F8 key when you hear a beep or when you see "Starting Windows 95" or "Starting Windows 98". Windows 98 users sometimes may find it easier to press and hold the left CTRL key as the computer is booting.
  3. If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen.
Microsoft Windows 95 Startup Menu
============================= 1. Normal
2. Logged (\BOOTLOG.TXT)
3. Safe mode
4. Step-by-step confirmation
5. Command prompt only
6. Safe mode command prompt only
Enter a choice: 1
F5=Safe Mode Shift+F5=Command prompt Shift+F8= Step-by-step confirmation [N]

4. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only.
Windows NT, 2000, XP, and Vista users If you're running Windows NT, 2000, or Windows XP and need to get to MS-DOS prompt follow the below steps.
  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run or click in the "Start Search" field if you're running Vista
  3. Type "cmd" or "command" and press enter.
Additional information about the difference between "cmd" and "command" can be found on document CH000395. If you're attempting to get into a MS-DOS prompt to troubleshoot the computer boot the computer into safe mode. Additional information about how to get into safe mode can be found on document CHSAFE. Windows 2000, XP, and Vista users who are unable to boot the computer into Normal Windows mode or Safe mode can also enter the recovery console to manage their computer from a prompt. Additional information about how to do this can be found on document CH000627. Finally, if you are experiencing issues getting into Windows NT, 2000, or XP, it may be necessary to run troubleshooting steps from a MS-DOS prompt. It is recommended that the Network Administrator get into the MS-DOS prompt by using either a standard MS-DOS boot diskette (note: will not be able to access data using a standard MS-DOS bootable diskette) or the ERD diskettes created after the installation of Windows NT, or boot from the Windows XP CD.
