Question about Hitachi 53UWX10B 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Hitachi 53UWX10B 53 convergence color lines dont move w\RC

After replacing the I.C's,two, with the CORRECT I.C's the T V will now come on,no more red blinking light and burning odor. The screen is a mess, no color of the three are even close to each other and the screen bows top to bottom.
While in convergence mode I found I was unable to cause movement of any color in any direction, and magic focus is OUT, Magic Focus displays colored stars they are unmanageable. I hope you can help,,,again. Thanks,
Dactag

After replacing IC's, double check the solder connections for bridging or no solder on pin(s). Check all bias resistors (low ohmage). Make sure you have your VCC voltage, should have a positive/negitive voltage of about 24 v on each IC and +38v.Also, make sure all cables are plugged in and fully seated

Note: All bias resistors are very low ohms eg; 3.3, 1.8, 2.2 make sure correct value, very important.
If can't adjust still CPU digital convergence board (near ic's) shielded may be defective.

Convergence settings on hitachi 53uwx10b

Yes - You will need to either remove the circuit board or lift up the tray. If you are not sure how to do it yourself read the link below.

  • This is a very common failure on Projection TV sets.
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
You can see some example photos and find a solution here...

Akai color alignment

This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor solder connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you wish to attemp the repair yourself, please let me know and I'll look up the parts and provide additional details and instructions.

53UWX10B blurred pic and blue/yellow lines

you can try the convergence first
if you cant converge the lines into one to correct this then you would require service for the convergence stage of your set
this is not a uncommon problem and usualy runs around 280 to 350 to repair unless the dcu is at fault
