Re: Tally 2265 paper jam
I am not familiar with this particular printer, but dot matrix printers are not complicated. Being that it is old, it very well be that a sensor is dirty or bad. There probably is only one or two of them. I suggest you carefully take the cover off, and expose the platen roller. If it is removed easily, take it out and clean it with dish detergent and water. Better yet, use WD40, because it will revitalize the roller a bit. be sure to use the dish detergent to get the WD40 film off. Now, look for any small switches in the paper path. Something may even be holding it down. The switch part may only be an actuator, and you may have to follow the arm to the photo interrupt switch. Clean in between the posts of its an interrupt switch. If you can't find anything jumping out at you, its probably time for a new printer.

The hardware alarm you are seeing on the 2265+ indicates the printer is experiencing a "horizontal task error" ie the printer is not able to move the print head or is not able to detect the print head is moving, things you can check to resolve this problem are;
Remove the ribbon from the printer, ensure this is not jammed or damaged
Power the printer OFF and try manually sliding the print head from side to side, look out for any objects which may obstruct the movement of the print head (pen lids etc!)
Ensure the print head gap is not set to close to the paper, thus jamming the print head
Remove the paper to ensure the paper is not restricting print head movement.
Clean the Optical Timing Strip that runs under the print head, ensure this is not damaged also.
Clean the carriage shaft, this should be FREE from any lubricants WD40 etc and dry running. Remove build up of paper dust etc.
If the problem persists it is likely the printer has developed a fault, check the following
The error message given by the 2250 would be longer than given in the question. The whole error message gives an indication of what might be causing the problem.
Some things you may wish to check include;
Check the print head is free to move and is not jammed
Check the carriage shaft is clean and free from any sort of lubricant
Check the timing strip to ensure this is in possition and is not dirty or warn
Check the paper path to ensure the paper is free to feed through the printer.
either your aga motor is bad or your board set is bad. Turn unit on watch the printhead while opening the cover. The printhead should move back and display "cover open". When you close cover the printhead should move closer to paper. If not bad aga motor or bad board set.
This is a common problem with the tally printer line in that model. You have to go into the configuration and set the Single sheet as the default paper style. When you make this selection from the selection menu it will go back to default after a period of time or anytime there is a jam or power off condition to include power saver. Check the user manual for the configuration access to the default settings and set single sheet feed as the default. That will solve the problem.
Check the following possibilities that may causing the error message.
1. Some times more paper may be taken in the paper feed area, check for any other paper jam in other area of the printer.
2. Remove all the printer drives, ports and uninstall the printer software and once again reinstall it by following steps given below
Start - Control Panel - Add and Remove Programs - Remove the program in the list called Tally Laser printer.
By now you have uninstall the software and now reinstall the software with the available cd given at the time of printer purchase and start printing.
