We recently acquired a Toshiba 32ZD16G from a friend as part of home theatre package. The system had been set up to use the Amplifier as a tuner and we;ve had to do te same because we cannot get any sound out of it. Whilst we can use the system, in this mode, the problem is we can't get all FTA (Free to Air) channels because not all of them are re-transmitted on our Pay TV provider, Foxtel/Sky. The mute is off and no matter what we have tried, cannot get any sound out of it at all - even using headphones. I am wondering if either there is an internal mute - it's not shown on the TV menu or whether the TV's sound circuitry is no longer functioning. Any ideas?

Hi - it's a good set, I have a 32695 which is a year older (1999). Top of the line Home Theatre Premier series. Common problem, it is the EEPROM chip on the circuit board. Very common problem to lots of RCA, GE, and Proscan. Shows up with age and yours is about ten-years old. If you like the set (I like mine) you might want to seek out an estimate for inhome service. I'll bet it will be well over $150.
If you have a cable or satellite box, thats very easy to do, feed the audio from your box into the home theatre system. However, if your refering to just the audio coming out of the tv. Most Home entertain systems will allow you to plug the video line in with the audio line in, if your using basic cable, you have to use a VCR or DVR to access the sound, otherwise its impossible.
There is sound coming from the tv speakers though? I had the same problem with my top of the line 7 channel surround sound theatre system. Its not that there is anything wrong with the sound system but that you may need to plug the Audio cord into the external device IE: cable box. Mine works strictly for the dvd function of my system because of this.
in this case you have defective CRT Circuit System, CRT means The Cathode Ray Tube... Circuit system. this need to diagnose the System IC. if you know how to repair electronics appliances i can teach you how to fix this issue..
Just Connect signal to tv and run autoprogram. Or use video input jacks from converter to tv ( yellow, white and red video in ) and select tv/video on tv pannel front ( don't need remote control) I hope this work for you.
If it is a "minor" convergence problem you can adjust it by going to the menu and scrolling to convergence and follow prompts A cross will appear when you have reached the correct place and you do the minor adjustments as it says. If picture is bowed you have major convergence problems.
