Check the twisted paired wires that are found inside your system unit..usually it has a color red, green, blue and white wires..check your motherboard wire pins usually located at the sides of the board or near the BIOS chip. IF you can see those wires, try reseat those wires( but make sure you have an assistance of a qualified technician to avoid wrong connections and to fry your motherboard).

Goodluck!!

Power supply led blinks but will not power up

My gateway was powered up and I came back into the room and it was not. It would not turn on so I checked the power supply with the paper clip jump method (which is the only thing I know how to do) and the green light along with the fan turns on. While it is plugged into the pc, it blinks with no fan running. The power supply is an ATX 300-12EB3. The Gateway is 556GE. Thank you for any help I can get on this.

No power PC is dead tried a spare power supply and PC works.. Green led on rear of power supply blinks all the time.when disconnecting 110v ac plug light then dims still blinks but slower then goes...

the original psu is dead toss it. the one you are using is not powerfull enough to run the pc. check the old opne for how many watts. then check the new one. i bet the new one has fewer. so to solve problem get a psu with the same or more watts than the old dead one.

detarch all accessories or hardware connected to the system , then bring out the power pack itself out completely look for a soldering led to test the functionality of the power pack itself if it rotates the fan of its pack by looping the first hole to the third hole cable in the power pack connector that will head into the motherboard. therefore, check the mother board if there is any damage on it like some component if all this is false . then plug the power pack to the outlet and fix the connector of the power pack to the motherboard after detaching both cd drive , floopy disk drive leaving the hard disk and the memory . then change the memory card and press on the system there should be a solution from all this . the problem should be from the Memory not to be able to start up the system but go through those process i have given you before concluding it was the memory ok....

kindly rate this solution......

Dell Optiplex GX280 Power switch flashes white light rapidly system will not turn on Fans do not start

Outlet - unplug the power cable and put it on an outlet on its own Power Cord - make sure you remove the power cable from the back and plug it back in to make sure you have a good connection. things that cause this blinking light: Power Supply -open system and follow cables to make sure its connected well to each part. I/O Panel - this is where the power button is at . just open the system and follow it behind the power button.the flat cable going to the mother board , disconnect it. plug the power cable to the wall and if the system starts up then the power supply is good and the the cable that you just disconnected is bad.

If it still doesn't power up remove
memory
hard drive
dvd/cd drive
and start the system.
no luck then it is the systemboard.

This is a link to troubleshooting power supplies for HPs. You still have a few steps to do to confirm but it appears your power supply is bad. I think they have you unplug the hard drives and take any cards but video out then unplug the power, wait for a while and then try again but if the light is still flashing the power supply is bad.

Computer Won't Power Up

If the blinking amber LED is on the computer itself and not the monitor, this is most likely a power supply issue. First thing to try would be replace the power supply. If the blinking led is on the monitor, it probably has bad capacitors and needs to be replaced. (or repaired)
