Check the twisted paired wires that are found inside your system unit..usually it has a color red, green, blue and white wires..check your motherboard wire pins usually located at the sides of the board or near the BIOS chip. IF you can see those wires, try reseat those wires( but make sure you have an assistance of a qualified technician to avoid wrong connections and to fry your motherboard).

PowerEdge t110. powered on, led 134 light up a sec, the system fan starts & shuts off. then all leds 1234 light up and off. all turns off & after few seconds, the amber light goes on and no blinking.


Sounds like the power supply is dying. Startup is the highest power draw. If there is a CD or DVD drive, make sure there is no disk in the drive. The optical drive startup is a huge power draw when starting. You should also disconnect any eternal peripherals. You might want to try disconnecting the hard drives, as they also have a large draw. If it starts after that, your supply is probably dying. Looks like a 300 watt supply. Looks like these are about the age I'd epect a power supply to die. I'd get a supply rated about 500 watts, but make sure if fits. Dell often uses proprietary supplies that are odd sizes. I'd look for supply from pc power and cooling or look at the newegg.com site for reviews of any 500 watt model that will fit.

  1. Make sure the computer air vents are not blocked and that the cooling fan is running.
  2. Open the hood, press the power button, and see if the processor fan spins. If the fan is not spinning, make sure the fan cable is plugged into the cable header on the system board, and that the fan is properly installed and seated.
  3. If the fan is plugged in and seated properly, but is still not spinning, replace the processor fan.
  4. Reseat the processor heatsink and make sure the fan assembly is attached to the heatsink properly.
Processor is not installed. Power LED blinks red three times, once a second, followed by a two second pause.
NOTE: This condition indicates a missing or improperly installed processor, not a defective one.

Maxtor external Hard drive not recognised on any pc

Sorry to hear of your problems. The following is taken from the Seagate (they own Maxtor) website at :-

For Maxtor Basics and Personal Storage 3100 and 3200 drives, there may or may not be an LED on the power supply, but the light on the drive should usually remain solid during normal operation, while powered on.

1. But if the power supply does have an LED on it, isolate the problem by connecting the power supply into a power outlet without the hard drive connected to it. If the LED blinks in this configuration, the power supply is faulty. Please contact Technical Support for replacement information.

2. If the LED remains solid, connect the drive. Once it is connected, turn the drive on. If the LED begins blinking, the drive has an electronic failure. Please replace the drive. You can create a warranty replacement order to replace the unit.

From what you have said i'm afraid it sounds like there is an electronic failure of the drive. I haven't followed the process through but they do offer a Data Recovery Service at :-

Powers On if I plug it in, and power supply fan runs...


Think of blinking amber as the initial state of the LED. As long as the system is receiving power from a power source and can pass that power through the system board to the LED on the Control Panel it should, at least, blink amber. As a result, a blinking amber Power Button LED is a reliable indicator that the system is receiving power from a power source. This, in turn, tells us that the source and power cord are likely to be functional. The Blinking Amber LED also tells us that the power supply to system board connection is good as well as the connections between the system board, I/O Panel and Control Panel. Depending on the components installed and the condition of those components, the LED may progress past blinking amber and move to solid amber. If the LED does not progress past blinking amber it indicates that the system is not able to properly distribute power to the system components. This is discussed in the next section of the interaction.


It does not indicate that the power supply is bad. It simply indicates that, for whatever reason, one of the power supply 'rails' is not operating within its specified range or, simply, that there is a short somewhere in the system.
The LED state could be the result of a misconfigured or incorrectly installed system component. A bad drive, for example, may be shorting out one of the rails. Incorrectly installed memory can cause a blinking amber front panel power button LED.

You might also consider a power supply. Sometimes they don't die completely, you'll still get a little power from them, but they still need replaced. The motherboard would be the next option, then finally the CPU. CPU's rarely go out before the power supply and motherboard.
