SOURCE: No picture while playing DVD or VHS tape

Your unit has it seems to have developed a video problem. it could be in the video switching IC or the video processor. Its going to need a trained technician, who knows how to use an ocilliscope to find the video problem.. Good Luck

If you select the HDMI channel to watch a dvd does it do it then, if not disconnect both ends of the scart lead and reconnect or replace. If the scart lead is not in properly this could happen, when you switch on the player and play a disc your tv will automatically switch to the AV/Scart channel, but you are better off manually turning the TV over to the HDMI Hi-Def channel for DVD.

Try holding down the tv power button and keep holding it while you press the channel button until your tv comes in.. It takes a few pushes. Make sure your tv is off first though.

SOURCE: connecting the dvd player via a scart cable

If you select component in on the tv, this should give you a picture, using the current set up. As for audio, depending on the tv, have you used audio in on the tv, or audio out?
It sound obvious but I (even after 5 years+ of installing tv/vcr/dvd) still get caught out with input and out put.
I am unfamiliar with Sansui dvd, if it has a scart connection on the back then yes you can connect to a spare scart on the tv. If it has the single yellow phono for video and the red/white phonos for sound, you can buy a scart to phono lead and use that, not to confuse with the component(blue/green/purple) connections. You cuold also connect the yellow/red/white phono to the same on the tv front/side or rear if available.

Linked below is the manual with detailed connection options and troubleshooting help. I suspect you may be using SCART jacks (that I have little knowledge of) and they work a little differently than other methods that I am familiar with. Review the connections and the Easy Setup procedures and try once more.

Phillips DVD recorder connection issue?

SCART is designed to carry analogue standard definition content. So if the input signal is high def. it will distort.

Wharfedale DVD recorder, no sound. Scart lead connected to Sky Box & scart connection to TV. Picture OK & can play DVD's or record to HD but no sound.

HI if you mean scart connectors on rear of DVD recorder, try swapping scart inputs on DVD recorder and if no joys then on set top box. (some units have 1 input designated for TV and the other for Set top box input)

Toshiba 3960 dvd player no sound

The most common causes,
1, bent or broken pins in scart lead.
2, faulty scart lead(internal wires broke)
3, mis-connected( audio out from dvd to audio out on tv.)
Just go through the list and if you have a known good scart lead, swap over to test.

Try pressing the HDMI button on the remote - if you pressed this in error and HDMI not connected the screen will go blank.

Hi I bought a goodmans dual format dvd recorder GDVDR319, tuned in fine, plays fine etc but the picture is pink. Instructions say check the video output but no idea what that means. Thanks

If your normal TV pictures are ok then carefully check your scart plugs are pushed right home and fitting squarely at the TV end and the DVD end.

Green Picture

The problem sounds like one I had. If so, the cause is as follows.

The Daewoo ouputs synchronisation information on the green channel of the RGB outputs (which are pins in the SCART socket) The Panasonic TV automatically preferentially selects the RGB input in the SCART rather than the composite video signal in the SCART. The video circuits in the Panasonic should ignore the sync on the green channel but instead interpret the sync as green signal information which means the adjustment of the green channel is upset leading to a very green picture.

Possible solutions:
1. From the TV, manually select composite video input, not RGB. This may not be possible - I think the TV automatically goes for the RGB if it is present.
2. Disconnect the wire to pin 16 in the SCART socket. This is the signal from the VCR/DVD to indicate that RGB is available. Disconnecting it means the TV defaults to the composite video. This is what I did.
3. Connect the TV to the VCR/DVD using component or S-VHS leads only.
