Question about HP Photosmart C7180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Problems with wireless printer

I recently bought the HP photosmart C7180 All in one. I have an HP laptop which is wireless enabled and it all runs via a wireless router. The laptop recognises the printer, all the installation went as it should but when I go to print wirelessly, it seems like the printer is not getting the message well enough. It tries to print then comes up with various error messages

Hi Thank you for your reply. The error messages appeared on both pc and printer. On the printer meesages varied between paper jams and carriage jams and on the pc the message would be something like print error or something like that. I seem to have now fixed the problem. I downloaded

ran the software, it found and installed my printer straight away and all seems to be running fine now.

    Thanks for replying!

    hi chapelrose,

The error messages are crucial to understanding and solving the problem you are experiencing. I would be happy to try and help you if you can supply me with a list of the error messages you receive (doesn't matter how cryptic they appear, just try and record and report them as accurately as possible). Mention as well where you see the message (on printer display or on PC screen).

I hope to hear from you as soon as possible.
    Kind regards

HP Photosmart C7280 wireless connection

My experience is different. My DSL router died in the night and I had to install the old one. I just changed the wireless settings on my C7280, and now all three connections work. If no wire (ethernet or USB) is connected, the wireless connection works. If the Ethernet cable is connected, it works via Ethernet, and if the USB cable is connected, it works via USB. It seems to default in that order.

Scanner

Hi damirish I have also been experiencing problems with the Scan To Computer button. I am currently in dialogue with the HP "head technician" who is due to ring me tomorrow. I will let you know what my resolution is. Basically, my problem is that my network (I use a netgear router) and have one wired (XP Pro) and two wireless PCs connected to it - one Vista laptop and one XP laptop. For some strange reason, the wired PC is happily displaying the correct Scan to file, Word etc functions yet my two wirelessly connected (Not the the printer itself but via wireless router) PCs appear multiple times and when I try to scan something to these two laptops, I get all kinds of errors. Even after running the HP clean-up tools and rebooting and reinstalling the HP software (32 bit) I now am faced with problems whereby the C7180 is not even recognised by the HP "Solution Center". Sadly, despite it's marvellous printing quality, I am thinking this unit is going back to the HP factory for some serious overhauling. Again, I'll let you know if there is a resolution and hopefully HP will investigate why the Scan settings are so faulty. Regards Andrew from Adelaide, Australia
