I have just bought a brand new Smeg dishwasher (model number above). It all seems to be connected ok, but on selecting any cycle the dishwasher will either go all night with the result being dirty dishes and the tablet still not disolved (it is in the door dispenser and is completely untouched). Or it will run the cycle for 2-3 hours and on completion the results are no different to the overnight cycle. If you repeat this operation too many times water builds in the bottom of the dihwasher. Any help would be appreciated - I don't want to call the service centre if it is something silly I have caused.
Thanks
Tracey
The first thing is have a look at the instruction manual from HERE
If the dishwasher is not washing properly then please follow these steps:
Check the water temperature. Should be
125 to 140 F.
Check pump re-circulation., Listen,
see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
Check water level when the fill cycle
has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly
need to replace the water inlet valve.
Check the spray arm and pump cover for
splits or leaks.
Check to make sure dishwasher is
draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom
of the tub.
Make sure the dishes are loaded
properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
Possibly try a different detergent.
Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
As you said that the water builds up at the bottom see If it comes out 'foamy' then liquid dish soap is getting introduced
into the dishwasher. Liquid dish soap is different than automatic
dishwasher detergent. liquid dish soap needs to be COMPLETELY rinsed
from anything that has been pre-soaked prior to putting in the
dishwasher. after a couple of regular cycles the foam will go away.
Nowadays liquid dish soap is also 'concentrated' or 'ultra
concentrated' which doesn't help.
If further this does not solve your problem the the only solution is to get it repaired.
Goodluck..

- If your dishwasher is leaking then please read these steps:
Excess suds can cause dishwasher to overflow. Make sure the detergent is fresh and designed for use in automatic dishwashers. Measure detergent carefully.
Detergent dispenser. Make sure items are not blocking the
detergent dispenser and preventing it from opening. Be sure water
action can reach the dispenser.
Spilled rinse aid can cause foam and lead to overflowing. Make sure to wipe up any spills with a damp cloth.
Make sure dishwasher is level. Check the installation instructions that came with the dishwasher for complete leveling information.

The pots and pans light flashes and the dishwasher won't start. The cancel button has no affect. The digital display shows --. I unplugged the unit and after plugging it back in, there was a 2 in the display and after a short while it went back to the -- and the pots and pans light started flashing again. Any ideas wiuld be appreciated. Thanks
