Question about Logitech Cordless Mouse
I've been using this mouse for a couple years and I love it. However, a few months ago, the left mouse button began acting strangely. When dragging files or whatever one might drag, it will just let go of them wherever it feels like as though I had let off the mouse button. Sometimes it will reclick again, grabbing something else I didn't intend to. More recently, it has been double clicking when I only click once. This is most annoying when I press "back" on a web browser (although I usually use the dedicated back button on the mouse). It is amazing how many places double clicking gives undesired results. Also, the middle mouse button has started losing its grip too. I've only noticed that recently while playing Crysis. Both buttons appear to be getting worse every day.
I am a heavy user. I have used this mouse on several Windows and Linux installations, and never had any problems with it other than this. I am always able to get all my buttons working regardless of OS. I lost my receipt and packaging a long time ago, so I doubt I can get any kind of warranty support. I don't like any other mice on the market right now as much as this one, and it seems silly to have to buy a new one just because of this problem.
I'm wondering if anybody has ever had this kind of problem before. I can't find out anything by doing a Google search... mainly because I don't know exactly what to call this problem. It is probably the contacts under the buttons, and I would like to know if anybody has ever tried opening up the mouse and cleaning the contacts, and if it was successful, before I completely void the warranty by punching a screwdriver through the sticker.
Thanks for your help.
When I use the left mouse button to highlight a sentence and release the left mouse button it fails to remain highlighted. Also when I single click with the same left mouse button it often acts as if I have double clicked. To close a programme it will often close that program plus the one behind it. This is driving me insane. Can you please assist a faithful customer?
Ok. i see your having great time using that mouse and you cared that device for several years. Try open your mouse and carefully remove these buttons of your mouse to clean those dirty stuff stacked on those linings( I believe that you haven't done this before, right?). I believe that this will need to clean a bit to give it back on track again.
