Try pressing the rest button on the side, then reload the firmware - see if that works

If your player stopped responding like downloading the music from your computer to your player or after your player is not working just reset by using paper clip to the hole and press down until your player is off then press on it should work properly sometimes it does freeze or crashed at some point.

This sounds like a drive error.
Try right clicking the drive in windows explorer then properties>tools>error checking>check now and tick both boxes and then start.
