I am attempting to connect my bluetooth-compatible cell phone and my bluetooth-compatible computer together, however, whenever I attempt to do so, The "Installing Bluetooth driver..." comes on and then asks me to plug in the bluetooth device and click OK button. How to transfer files between your phone and your computer

Instructional steps
  1. Plug the bluetooth dongle into your computer or if your computer is equipped with an internal module, activate it (this is sometimes accomplished by a switch on the side of your notebook computer).

Some bluetooth dongles will be automatically recognized and windows will automatically install the drivers for you; however some devices may require the drivers be installed manually.

Now you'll need to activate bluetooth discovery on your computer. This step may be different depending on the drivers used but should be similar to the following.

    * Look for the bluetooth icon in the windows system tray.

    * Right-click this icon and select open bluetooth settings.

    * Click on the Options tab and select "Turn discovery on".
Activate and configure bluetooth on your cell phone. Setupwill be different depending upon the brand of your phone. You will need torefer to the owners manual of your particular phone for specifics but I willcover general guidelines.

* Locate the bluetooth settings menu in your phone.

* Turn bluetooth ON.

* Give your phone a name (you can use anything you like, but keep in mind thatother bluetooth users can see this name) this is the name that will identifyyour phone when you or others are searching for nearby bluetooth devices.

* Set your bluetooth visibility. This should be set to "shown to all"or "visible". You may wish to turn this feature off when you are notutilizing bluetooth.
Now you'll need to pair your phone and your PC. This can bedone from either the phone or the PC.

From the PC (Windows XP):

* Right click on the bluetooth icon in the system tray and select openbluetooth settings.

* At the bottom of the devices tab, select "Add"

* The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard appears, select "My device is setup andready to be found" and click the Next button.

* The wizard should find your device, if it doesn't, refer back to step three.

* Select your device and click Next.

* When prompted about a passkey, choose "Let me choose my ownpasskey", enter a passkey of your choosing (I like to use 0000 for easebut windows recommends an 8-16 digit passkey). Click Next.

* At this point the computer will attempt to connect to the phone via bluetoothand if successful your phone will prompt you for a passkey. Enter the samepasskey you entered into the computer and press OK.

* If you are prompted to accept a connection request from your computer, selectYes.
Now that your phone is paired with your computer, you arenow ready to begin transferring files. We will use a picture for this example.

* Right click on the bluetooth icon in the Windows system tray and selectreceive a file. This lets your computer know to expect a file transfer from abluetooth device.

* Again all phone models are different so this next step will vary.
Locate an image file on your cell phone and select send - via bluetooth.

* The phone will then search for bluetooth devices in range and display themalong with already paired devices.

* Select your computer from the list of devices.

* The data file will transfer over to the computer and windows will prompt youto enter a file name and choose a location to save the file to.

I want to retrieve my contact numbers on PC

Bluetooth Method

  1. 1
Activate your phone's Bluetooth. If you're unsure about how to do this, look under Settings or Controls.
  2. 2
Purchase a Bluetooth adapter. If your computer does not have the hardware for a Bluetooth/Infrared this connection, then buy the adapter, sometimes called a 'dongle'. The common BT/I adapter plugs into a USB port. If you're on a budget, look for a used one online - they can be quite inexpensive. This adapter will have software for the connection process, which lets you transfer files from the computer to your phone, or vice versa.
    • Some computers, such as MacBooks, are already outfitted with Bluetooth devices, and won't require one of these cables. If you're unsure about whether or not your computer has this capability, search for the information online.
  3. 3
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on both your computer and your phone.
    • If you have a Mac, you can make sure your Bluetooth is on by clicking on the Bluetooth symbol on the right side of the upper toolbar. The symbol should be to the left of the Date and Time and should look like some triangles.
    • On a Vista, go to Control Panel -> Network and Internet Connection -> Bluetooth Devices.
  4. 4
Make sure you are standing within 30 feet of your computer. Bluetooth does not work more than 30 feet away.
  5. 5
On your phone, find the data you wish to transfer.
  6. 6
Go to the menu, and select Copy or Send.
  7. 7
    Choose the Bluetooth option.
  8. 8
Once you confirm that you want to enable Bluetooth, the Bluetooth menu in the phone will pop up automatically.
  9. 9
Select the "Look for Devices" option.
  10. 10
Select your device from the list that appears.
  11. 11
A request will be sent to your device asking for you to accept the sent picture.
  12. 12
Accept the request, and the data will be sent.

When you turn on an Asus laptop's Bluetooth function, you allow cell phones, headsets and any other Bluetooth device to be synced with or found on the laptop.
You can use Bluetooth on a laptop to listen to music on a headset or to sync and transfer files from the computer to the device.
If the Asus laptop has Bluetooth wireless technology preinstalled, you can enable Bluetooth access by changing the settings in the control panel.

Click the "Start" menu and open "Control Panel."
Select "Hardware and Sound" and "Bluetooth Devices."
If the "Bluetooth Devices" option doesn't appear, your laptop does not have Bluetooth capability.

I have acer aspire laptop 5738 .i installed driver for blutooth but still i am not able to connect it . it is giving me error saying bluetooth device not found . please help me out.

Hi

Here are the solutions :

Restart your computer and press F8 when boot up and choose safe mode, then enter. Restart again and run on normal mode. If your bluetooth is working before, safe mode will fix the error on the drivers because of faulty installed driver or software or drivers conflict with multiple same drivers installed.

If you just new installed the driver, the bluetooth driver is not compatible with the operating system. Try to go to device manage, right click and uninstall the driver and install again. Or just update your driver whenever you install the bluetooth driver. Normally when installing softwares or drivers, you need internet connect when installing drivers to get updates if ever. restart your computer to take effect the hardware settings.

I hope it helps you.

The computer comes with bluetooth but there is no icon in controll panel

By typing fsquirt in run command,a bluetooth file transfer wizard opens.
But before that you should check the following.

When you install a supported Bluetooth adapter in Windows XP SP2 or any Windows OS, the adapter becomes active together with the following Microsoft components:
  • Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator This component enumerates Bluetooth devices and capabilities.
  • Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) This driver supports Personal Area Network (PAN) connections between devices.
  • Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol Transport Driver Interface [TDI]) This component supports dial-up networking (DUN). It also supports other types of connections between devices.
  • Bluetooth Support Service (BthServ) This service maintains and updates device pairing information. It also performs other functions that are related to Bluetooth features.
These components are available in Device Manager after you install a Bluetooth adapter. Other drivers and components are also installed.
The Options tab in Bluetooth Devices provides options that control how devices discover and connect to your computer. The main option is Turn discovery on. This option lets devices discover your computer so that you can make a connection.
Other options on this tab include the following:
  • Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer This check box controls whether any devices can connect to your computer. If this check box is cleared, no devices can connect to your computer.
  • Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect This option controls whether you receive notification when a device tries to connect to your computer. If this check box is cleared, you do not receive notification.
Other options on the Options tab let you turn on or turn off the Bluetooth icon in the notification area and restore default settings.

Do you have the Jabra bluetooth part that goes into your computer? You have to go to your phone settings under bluetooth and make it sync up. Your phone will sync, not your headset. You are trying to sync the wrong thing.
