35mm Film Camera Ricoh XR-2

Can you still get parts for a Ricoh XR-2 camera. I have a broken film advance lever. Is this still repairable.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Sorry, that camera is no longer supported by Ricoh. What do you mean exactly by the film advance being broken? It won't move or it is damaged?

My advance lever is stuck o my Ricoh camera. I had a roll of film get stripped in it and took it out in the dark room and developed it but now even with no film in it the lever won't advance. I've looked...

Your camera is in cocked position with shutter fully cocked and that is why you cannot advance the film advance lever. Set the shutter to x position ( on your shutter speed dial on the right hand side and top of your camera ) . The shutter should release and then you should be able to advance the film advance lever.

My cameras advance lever will not spring back and allow the film to move to the next frame. How do i fix it?

push the film release on the bottom of the camera and try to continue forward then. If you are trying to get 27 pictures on a 24 exp. roll you may have advanced your film so far that it is stuck on the piece of tape that attaches the film to the spool. Take only 24 pictures.

Blank film

Make sure when you load your film, that the cogs are actually winding the film. Many a roll has been "shot" with the film ever advancing. If you see what your taking, that is really about all that it could be.

Mirror is stuck in "up" position and film will not advance

Normally, stuck mirror is due to weak batteries with a elcetromagnetic shutter like the Ricoh. Try with brand new silver oxides and see if it helps!

Ricoh XR-10 35mm SLR camera

stevdan,

take the screws off the bottom cover. there is a small lever pointing toward the front of camera with a black screw on it. gently move it to the left, this will release the lock lever. Now advance the lever and the shutter should fire. if not, it is not repairable. no parts

Film advance lever stuck

The shutter parts are most likely broken. That is usually the tell-tale sign of a broken camera, not advancing. Repairs for film cameras are very expensive and if parts are needed, it may be impossible for a 20+ year old camera. My suggestion is to find a replacement film camera system. Your Ricoh lenses will fit on a Pentax camera, but not work in Auto Mode. Prices of used Pentax cameras with built in motor drives are around $100. Check on line cameras stores. They have lots of use cameras/lense. A lens to use on that is another $75 or so. Only Nikon and Canon make new film cameras anymore. If you want an indestructable K-mount, find a Pentax K1000. Many lenses are available but no motor drive nor auto exposure on that model.
