88 f150 351w forever to start and when it does it runs real rough until I hold gas down for a minute then idle rough but will start right back up unless it sits awhile doesnt want to start back up

There are several possibilities for this problem. A "cold start" sequence is suppose to activate based on water temperature and the signal from the water temperature sensor. This makes the fuel rich and adjusts timing to make the engine run better when cold. It works like a choke only it is electronic.

There may be 2 sensors with one making the dash gauges work and the other doing the engine controls. If not 2, then 1 sensor would do the whole job.

Another possibility is an air leak in the fuel system which makes the system bleed dry overnight. It is far less common on gas engines but happens a lot on diesels.

Some earlier Ford engines from 1984 to I don't know when they stopped on trucks, would use a step-up solenoid on the accelerator bracket that worked off water temperature. Sometimes a bad water thermostat would make the temperature controls malfunction the other way (High idle, clicking, low idle) that would stall and engine as the temperature vary.

My 88 celebrity runs eratic driving at a steady speed and stalls when you stop I replaced the fuel pump and ignition runs great when gas gage reads 1/4 tank.motor is a 2.8 multi port

I had the same problem one time. The car ran great under half a tank. It wouldn't even start back up after putting gas in it. I struggled with this and the only conclusion was that the weight of the gas in the tank added pressure to the fuel system. Another mechanic looked it over and when we changed the fuel filter we realized that the wrong filter was replaced a yr earlier. It didnt have a one way check valve stopping the system from bleeding off and depressurizing. May be the same problem.

John Deere Diesel X495 garden tractor running VERY rough.

Bleed the lines while the unit is running making sure you get all the air out of the lines.

91 acclaim v6. starts and runs good, but once its been running for awhile (hour or so), and i turn it off, it doesnt want to start back up, or does and dies. wait 2 hours and it starts right up. recently...

Sounds like either you have a clogged fuel line and or clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump is failing. What happens when the vehicle runs the fuel pump heats up, as it heats up it produces less and less fuel for your car. Eventually ti stops working until its cool again on faulty pumps. Given the age of your vehicle I would say you need to replace both pump and filter.

Ran out of gas and now she won't run!

i would say that you have a bad fuel pump or if you have a carb on it the float inside the carb is stuck check these and i'm sure you will find it's one of these.

Fuel system

No, it will bleed it self after a few seconds of crank time, verify you have fuel pressure, there is a shradder valve in the line going to the fuel injectors( known as the fuel manifold), depress it while someone cranks the engine and see if fuel comes out, is there gas in you tank? guages can be wrong, seen it a hundred times, car towed in, $100 later it turns out the guage is wrong and the car ran out of gas.
