Probably needs a new foot control. Bring the machine and the foot control to a shop, they can test it to see if it is the control, the wires from the control to the machine, or something else.

The control and wiring are sold separately, the control is often cheaper than the wires from the control to the machine, don't throw anything away until you have someone look at it first!

They will remove the non functional foot control from the wiring and put a new one on. A new foot control is not expensive.

My machine comes on but the foot pedal does not work, what should I do?

First, check to see that the cord is plugged in fully and the socket you have it plugged into is also working. Then turn the pedal upside down and check that there isn't something that is preventing the pedal from pushing down all the way. If you are brave unplug it from the wall & sewing machine open the case (likely there are some screws) you may find that there is just dust keeping it from making proper contact. Failing all that check on ebay or with a dealer for a replacement foot pedal. You have to specify brands to keep any more specific. Replacing the foot pedal is potentially cheaper than replacing the whole machine.

Why when the Foot pedal is pushed all the way down does it click and only allow th machine to go at a very slow speed?

Check to see if there is something caught up in the foot pedal, like a scrap of fabric. That could be enough to prevent you from fully closing the pedal. Disconnect the pedal from the machine and from the wall. Holding the pedal in your hands, squeeze it closed as far as you can. Release. It should pop open. If it does not, then the pedal springs may be broken or worn out.

My daughter's brand new, right out of the box Janome 2212 machine is not working. The foot pedal is not engaging the motor so the needle doesn't move up and down. The wheel is pushed in as it

Sorry, but gotta ask is it plugged in and turned on? Check before you answer. (I ask this because it happened to me, set up, ready to go, and no power. After an hour and the machine was in pieces, My son asked if i plugged it in and I snapped "YES, DUH" not seeing him twirling he plug in his hand...he informed me that you must be 10% smarter than anything you operate or eat....at which point he was happy to inform me, the machine was 11% smarter. If it is plugged in and turned on, is the plug to the foot pedal plugged all the way in? Is the machine on? If you get zero reaction, no movement or sound of any kind, the foot pedal my be faulty, it can happen. Take it back to the dealer and they should replace the entire machine or the foot pedal. Good luck and happy sewing.

Foot pedal not working

Well, you are definitely getting power from the electric plug in.

Let's do some diagnostic work. Do you hear anything when you press the foot pedal? Any hum? Did you happen to leave it in bobbin winding mode?

your machine doesn't have a "sew" button for use without the pedal. So please rotate the hand wheel toward you as you press the pedal. Did the motor take over and sew?

If you know someone with a meter... have them test the pedal. (they will place probes on/in the part that plugs in which tests for shorts, etc.) If that tests ok... then we know it's something more than the pedal and it will need servicing by a Singer Tech.

It was working fine. Then stopped. When you depress the pedal the motor idles but the needle doesn't go up and down

it's possible that the foot pedal has gone out
check to make sure the power cord in inserted into the machine correctly & also the foot pedal

Foot pedal doesn't work

well if the foot pedal isn't working, you can either replace it with a new one or take the machine to a sewing machine repair shop & let them check the foot pedal & see if it's fixable

Designer 1 foot pedal won't work

Have you tried using another Designer 1 foot control? It is more likely that the problem is a loose connection at the machine. Do not cut anything apart on the foot control unless you are certain that is where the problem lies.Take the machine in to an authorized dealer and have them test it for you. Find out EXACTLY what is not working. No need to buy a foot control and find out that the connectors on the machine are not properly attached.

I have an old Pfaff 90 Sewing Machine, largely mechanical. However, I seem to have run into an electrical problem. I was just sewing and pressed down the foot pedal and when I raised my foot, the needle...

I am pretty sure it is the foot pedal. It will need to be repaired. You might want to blow air inside to get rid of dust. The bottom usually slides to the rear. You can blow out all of the parts. You may want to slightly tap your foot pedal on the floor. Remove the thread first though. You may find that it will stop when you do this. Anyway, repair or replace.
