Re: My dvi receiver doesnt work
You need to go to a computer store and pick up a new DVI adapter, there usually around $8. Try this, its the cheapest thing to try first. Also, make sure the monitor isnt set to anolog, it needs to be set to digital.

the problem is the tv is not getting a signal start. all devices in #digital give a signal to say what they are and the right format to display, some devices don't send the signal if its not the right setting, if you are trying to send an analog signal to a digital socket it will not work . and vice versa.
Max does recognize receiver over HDMI-CEC. The problem is that DVI output is for video only. Macbook won't (and can't) output audio via DVI. So yamaha receives only video signal via the HDMI connector. You can check that by pressing Option button on yamaha remote and choosing Signal Info - you will see info about video, but no audio signal present.
Are you using a HDMI to DVI cable or are you using a HDMI to DVI adapter? Sometimes, though not on all products you have to go into the menu and select which out put your using for each source and whats going through it. You might need to go into your dvd player menu and tell it not to try to run audio through the cable. That way it's not trying to force a signal through the cable that cant be accepted by the TV. That might possible solve your problem for the DVD player. Let me know if it works Have a Great day
I have the EXACT same problem with my Sony SDM-P234 23" HD/computer monitor. I know it works (and it works great) with my DVico PCI card with my computer. It outputs in 480i, 480 p, 720p and 1080i with clarity on a simple indoor RCA HDTV antenna. I get the same quality (1080i) picture for the same three seconds as does lewy. I can also add that the digital coaxial output delivers 5.1 audio to my amp and it stays on even after the picture cuts out. Please help.....Comcast sendsa 'technician' out to service it and...well....did I say he's a 'technician'? He changed the box twice and says it must be my equipment. I guess its an act of God that it works with anything else.... I mean....its been checked out by a Comcast 'technician' after all.
