Refrigerators not getting cold all of a sudden

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

Hi, make sure the evap coil and the condensor coils are clean. make sure there is no ice build up on the evaporator located in the back of the freezer. It could also be a bad t-stat or low on refrigerant. Call a tech if it still does not work after you clean and make sure that both coils are clean and ice free.

change the filter. to do this recover the freon(gas), remove the filter , replace it by new one; do the vacuum and then charge again. Work must be done by a certified technician. do that at your own risk

try removing some of the item in the refrigerator

a defective thermostat / sensor or a refrigerant leak

If you completely defrost the freezer and restart the unit and it doesn't get cold in the refrig portion it could be the internal fan that moves cold air from the freezer to the frig area if it does get cold after an hour or so then it is probably the defrost coil needs replacing. I am not familar with your exact model but this senario applies to many different units.

same problem then suddenly would not shut off, kept running. found out it was the thermo couple as well as the timer.
