Hello, I can watch and enjoy my DVD on the camcorder only.
I have finalized it, but when I take it out to play on my laptop or any computer it doesn't work. It says it is blank, but I know it isn't because when I put it back in the camcorder it works fine.
I have also tried connecting the camcorder to my computer and I still can't get any of the video off. Please help!

I have this video camera. It seemed like a good deal at $200 at Christmas time. It is suppose to be able to record on DVD-R, +R disks. (re-writable and write disks) I have had issues with not being able to finalize the disk. I found you needed to keep at least 5 minutes on the disk to finalize it. It will not play in any DVD player or a Computer till it is finalized. The info stored on the disk is in RAW form. Finalizing it will create a "lead in" and "lead out" and a menu for your computer and/or DVD player to understand. A large part of whether it will play or not, is what is your DVD Player or DVD Drive on you computer capable of? DVD Players usually will play anything that has been finalized, same with your DVD drive on your computer. BUT! Yep there's a but, sorry. DVD players and DVD Drives sometimes can only read one type of disk. Either a DVD-R or DVD+R, some may not be able to read a re-writable disk too. Look through your manuals on your Laptop and your DVD Player(s) and try to match the correct media (i.e. DVD-R or DVD+R Write or Re-Writable) I found that between my PC and my DVD Player, that DVD+R would work without a hitch for both electonics. Download that software that Samsung gave you in with the video camera. It may end up loading the driver software to help you're computer to recognize the video DVD you are trying to play.
Oh, and make sure you really do have a DVD player/burner drive installed. I went to play a movie on my wife's Laptop and found it came with a CD drive and no DVD drive. That's not what I ordered and I was about a year to late to complain to the company. :( Hope that helps.
Here is how to finalize a disk in your camcorder.
1) Plug in the power adapter, and put in the disk you want to finalize.
2) Press the function button. If your disk was recorded in VR mode, then go to step 3. If not, go to step 4.
3) Scroll right to get to menu.
4) Scroll down to get to Disk Functions.
5) Scroll down again to get to Finalize.
6) Scroll down again to Yes.
7) Press the function button.
8) Wait until it's done, then you can play your disk in a DVD player.
Remember, (very important). Don't touch or bump it while it's finalizing a disk. If you disturb it, you can mess up your disk.
Hope that helps you. Don't forget to rate my solution, and enjoy your videos.
It's possible because your DVD is an RW that someone could have reformatted it on accident erasing the video. If you have something important to preserve make sure you do not use an RW DVD because accidents can happen and it could get wiped out unintentionally.
You should only have to finalize the disc and then it will work in your PC, you need DVD playback software to play it. If its a dual layer disc your, DVD drive in your pc needs to be able to play dual layer. Enjoy, Lee
All you should have to do is finalize the disc. Put it in your DVD drive and select the scenes and photos. you need to have DVD playback software to play the disc also if its a DUAL layer disc you have to make sure the drive in your PC can play DL. Enjoy, Lee
Finalizing - try keeping it plugged and finalizing
you can pnly use the roxi program to upload files
It came with that CD
so install the program
and if you want to use Windows Movie Maker
or something else like that
export the file form roxio program
The only reason that you have to finalize a DVD-R disc is so that you can play it back in an external DVD. Once finalized, you can no longer add motion video to that particular disc. Discs that are not finalized can still be played back when inserted in the DVD-camcorder.
