You may try to push it harder to put it back on the keyboard.If theres a broken plastic at the back of the key then call Dell Technical Support and Dell will replace the whole keyboard if the system is still under warranty.

To brighten the screen of your lattitude laptop you can press Fn key and up arrow key and to decrease the brightness you can press Fn and down arrow key.

I need to see where the wires connect from the screen inside latitude d-820

The cable exits the screen just above the 'Pause' key and runs to the left some. The video connector for the D820 is pretty much right below the F9 and F10 keys.
