1200 series lexmar printer

My printer won't print any color other than black when printing out documents. In working with multicolor text documents sent to me on e-mail or if I take these documents and copy and paste them to a works program, the printer will only print black. It is a color printer and there is a color and black cartridge in the printer. I can find no setting to change this. What do I do?

It doesn't fix my problem but it does let me know that I am not alone, that there are others out there experiencing the same problem with the same printer.

my printer will not print color even though it has a new cartridge. I have uninstalled the entire printer and re-installed it but still no color. The printer is only a year old.

Gee's it appears this printer could be a junkie, I have the same problem...... I'm wanting to know what to do also. I have had mine for 3 months bought it new.... Yes I did click print color as black and white. I would hate to junk this printer and buy new when the problem was a simple task.

For some reason Canon have removed manuals from their pages. Second one I have seen missing today. Here is a copy and shows connecting a camera. If your unknown phone has a USB, you can try it. This is the page of the manual that shows it.

My HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer won't print in black when trying to print from Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel or PDF. The ink cartridge is new. I have turned the printer off and...

I also have the OfficeJet 6500 and had the same problem. The black text was printing using a mix of colored inks instead of the black ink, resulting in a grey, fuzzy text. I finally found a solution. In each application under Page Setup, there is an option called "Format for". Mine had been set to "Any Printer". I changed that to "Officejet 6500 E709n [830E4A]" and now it prints the black just fine. I have a Mac running 10.4.11. Hope this helps.

Black blocked by magenta

One ovbious option would be to have a friend print it out.
I assume that is not an option.

Some printers just won't let you print if a single color is out. Yes, stupid. Try printing a blank page. If it fails, there is no other option but to replace the cartridge or print elsewhere.
If the blank page test works, this next option/test is worth a try...
Depending on the app you are using, you can specify the color breakdown of the colors you are using. In your case, it is possible that the text is set to a rich black (4-color) rather than just black.
If that is the case, to test this most quickly, make a new file, and create a new black (black2), set to 100 black, 0% other colors.
Type a wor and set it to print in that color and try to print it.
If that works, apply the same technique to your real document.
Hope it works. I've been stuck in the same situation, and some printers will just not let you print if a single color is out.
Good luck.

Printing without color?

Im sorry to inform but yes, Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.
