Sound goes in and out

my system goes in and out. Ex .. my music will all of a sudden go out. I'll either have turn off the unit then turn it back on or wait a few hours or a day. Then while I have a dvd in the sound goes out,then Ihave to turn the power off ,eject the dvd, put it back in then turn the sound on. I shutter to think what will happen when summer comes. Help
