Question about Televison & Video

Freeze up While watching tv one night I tried to adjust volume. The volume bar displayed...nothing happened. I tried to change channels...nothing happened. I tried to turn off tv....nothing happened. Then I went to tv and tried all the push buttons on tv.....nothing happened----I ended up unplugging tv then replugging it in and it seemed to work fine. What happened? The tv was still broadcasting but no response from remote or tv push buttons?

In our case, while changing the channels the system froze on a specific channel, with the channel display staying visible, which usually goes away after few seconds. The system still responded to volume changes and input changes, but the you could not change the channel, by entering a channel, or using the up/down arrows. Home menu button is also not responding. Basically most buttons do not. The buttons on the side of the TV also behave in the same manner. If we turn off the TV and turn it back on we can get to Home Menu, but the Tuner never initializes, unless you completely unplug the TV. Does anyone know where this eprom is located. Is it inside the TV or inside the receiver.

TV works fine. Then 10 minutes into watching sound goes silent. Nothing will adjust. Channels will not change. Volume will not adjust. TV is locked on that channel with no volume. The only recourse is to unplug and replug. After that, the TV works fine until this happens again. It may not happen again for the remainder of the day. It usually takes place within the first 30 minutes of viewing. After the unplug, replug experience the set works fine.

Most likely it's your memory ic (eprom). Sometimes depending on the make, an authorized service center can flash the eprom back to normal. This is something you can not do but I hope this helps a little.

Vertical and horizental picture expand and please help me to adjust it

It might help if you listed the brand and model of your TV, but usually on the remote you will see some sort of mode button. You can change the picture size there. Or you can go into your system menu and change it in the display menu. The typical ones are widescreen, zoom, stretch, etc. Also try changing the picture aspect ratio. 16:9 will give you widescreen while 4:3 will give you regular. Also, another problem might be that the channel you are watching or your cable box is not in HD. If the channel is not specifically an HD channel, the widescreen setting will not work properly and you will need to adjust it to a different setting to keep from getting the black bars on the side. Hope that helps.

I have a Sharp 32 inch 720p tv, power works, no other buttons do

Unplug TV set from the outlet, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, select right input with your remote if you using cable box or Punch the channel that you want to watch if you have cable service connected directly to the TV.

Low volume on some channels

Well, some TV stations do broadcast at different volume levels. This is very noticeable when watching a TV show and the volume seems normal and then when a commercial comes on, the volume is very loud. They do this to get you to pay attention to the commercial. Another problem might be that you are adjusting volume from both your TV and your cable box. What you should do is make sure your cable box is set to "FIXED VOLUME" and then just adjust your TV volume. Fixed volume will have the cable box output only one volume level, letting the TV do the adjustment. Just go through your cable box setting and look in the audio settings. Hope This helps...

LG 42LC7D TV does not want to chg channels after 5 min of use

There are some inductors that are out of spec. LG's original SB said to replace some of these with a jumper, but it only lasted a couple months.

You need to have the Total Main Assy replaced.

If you use a digital cable box, it could be that the volume on that isn't turned up all the way. I didn't even realize the box had volume controls until 2 years after I got it...makes a HUGE difference now
