I need help to replace the glass smooth top for kenmore model number 7909621340B. Can someone please help.

Send it back and get the correct one. It can't be the same part number if the connections are different. Your old one may have features that his new one doesn't. The one less wire may just be a shared return, but the stove might be needing individual returns. If it is an updated replacement (the listing sometimes says 'compatible with' or 'replaced by', or 'alternative part'), it should come with a wiring schematic.

Please always include full 'make MODEL (what it is)'.

Most times, the glass tops are more costly than a whole new range. Depending on the AGE of this range, consider a new one or have a professional replace the top. Time is wasting!

Yes the number you are searching for is called an OEM number or original equipment manufacture's number. Here is the deal with Sears when it comes to their model numbers. Sears buys all their products from someone else like Whirlpool, Maytag, GE and the list goes on and on. Then Sears calls their model number Kenmore Model Number=> Kenmore Model Number Locator's and the first three numbers are the models maker or who originally made the appliance Click Here for examples=> Kenmore Appliance Model Number Prefix's or Click=> Here once you have the correct Kenmore Model Number once you have that then you can find the parts for your dispenser. Your number will look like this for example only 363.235698 then go to Parts Direct or Repair Clinic and enter the correct Kenmore appliance model number and then search dispenser parts for that model numbers parts number. I have the same problem with ours! Our 2 small burners don't work at all and the 2 larger ones only work bright red hot. I called Sears and they said there is no recall on my particular model, but there are tons of recalls on other models. The problem is with the venting from the oven doing damage to the wiring (shorting them out maybe?). We're trying to find someone who knows anything about this and if we can get it fixed as our stove is only 3 years old.

Your range was actually built by Whirlpool. the first 3 digits of the serial number determine who it was manufactured by.
It's possible that a battery somewhere is running low. This battery would be for the clock and timer.
