Question about Mitsubishi WS-55807 TV

1 Answer

WS-55807 Has developed a very noticeable screen discoloration within the portion of the screen where a 4:3 picture would be. The sides or pillar bars that are used only for 16:9 have good, like-new color. It looks as though the 4:3 portion of the screen has worn out because it has been used far more. Could this be fixed by replacing some component of the screen? Thank you, Dave

Get your remote and go into the menu and see if you can find the "horizontal static convergence" adjustment, or it might just say "convergence". You have a small chance that this will solve your problem. Also make sure that nothing with magnets is located near your set. They will distort the color if too close to the set. Also, if you have a friend who is in electronice, see if he/she will loan you a degaussing coil and show you how to use it. You do not have to take the tv apart to use the degaussing coil and it takes only a few seconds to degaus. Go to http://www.twobits.com/degauss.html and learn in laymens terms about this tool.
Thanks.

Hi, thank you for visit fixya.
Pull out the speaker cover ( slow toward your self).
You will see screws in the middle , take it out ( maybe is 4 o 6 screws), be careful with any wires connect to panel control. Disconnect any connector to panel control. Pull toward your self , slow and slide up . Use a fine brush for best result, use glass cleaner liquid.
Any question, I will be here.
If you need additional help, please send me a picture front tv and I will show the right process.

Thank you

IF the MITS has 3 component inputs blue red yellow RCA jacks on the back then yes at 480 or 720p, you'll need to attach 2 audio cables for sound. If it has a HDMI input then absolutely.

Won't come on

The power board has failed and will need to be repaired or replaced. you can remove this board and, replace individual parts and save a lot of money. You will be inspecting for swollen capacitors and resistors. also, look for discolorations on the board itself.

In all probability the picture is fuzzy too, its just harder to notice. This can be as simple as an adjustment in the back of the set. Carefully remove the back and look for the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out of the top). The should be 1 or 2 controls on it. One should be marked focus. Adjust that to get sharper focus.

Let me kow if that fails to resolve the problem.

Thanks,
Dan

Mitsubishi WS-55807 turns on but then powers back down after a few seconds

Good Day;

The fuses tell you that circuit has failed and was drawing too much current. No other test is needed.

Good Luck, big Irish.

The convergence ICs probably have a cracked solder joint on the foil side of the circuit board. Re-flowing the the solder would help. I will always replace the convergence ICs when doing this job. The labor remains the same and you will have to pay a few extra bucks for the parts. To fix this yourself, you will need to be able to identify the two convergence ICs (STK392-570), have a basic knowledge of electronics and be able to use a soldering iron.
