When I try to insert paper to shred, there seems to be something obstructing the left side, but if I angle it in to the right side, I can then slide it over so the left accepts it. I've lost my manual.
I think I could clear it if I could get the top off and apart, to expose sensors and grinders, but can't figure out how to get it apart.

Re: Shredder won't accept paper on left side
If you think you have taken all the screws you may not know that most often there will be a hidden screw ot two under a sticker or a plug.It may be that your unit has tabs that simply need to be pulled apart. Unfortunately I only know Fellowes products but maybe this will help. Good Luck.

Shut off power and turn the shredder upside down. It is highly likely you will find shredded paper jammed in the mechanism, especially near the center where the feed sensor is located. A thorough cleaning should get your shredder operating again
There is a paper sensor at the throat of the machine that turns the machine on when it is activated by the paper when the paper is inserted. Something has happened to that sensor. Unplug the machine and remove the shredder head from the basket. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws at the bottom of the shredder head and open the shredder head. Look where the paper is fed into the machine and you will see the sensor. It may be unplugged/wire broken/sensor flag broken off... You'll know what to do when you identify the problem.
I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

Unplug it first. If you are certain that there is a jam, take the top off and flip it upside down. Use a pencil or other object that is NOT YOUR HAND and try to remove some of the paper jammed up. It is also possible that there is only a sensor on the left hand side. If this is the case there isn't much that you can do. Hope this helps and tell me how it works out!
You dont say make or model so...get some shredder oil into the cutting teeth where you insert the paper...especially if its a x-cut shredder..make sure once in a while you shred a piece of paper with some of the oil poured onto the paper for lubrication of the cutting blades.
Pour some shredder oil in the throat where you normally insert the paper...put some shredder oil directly onto 1 sheet of paper and try shredding 1 sheet. If it wont even shred 1 sheet I would ask is the shredder running???
